French & Saunders Series 1-6 Box Set (6 discs) [DVD]

Well the comedy was quite unexpected. I felt like Dawn French got the short nd of the stick. She is crazy brilliant tho. Saunders well they . I never knew being an American ive never had a chance to see this i enjoyed the acts it was vaudvillian and bawdy, I get it. overall however i struggled to finish this

I am super happy that I bought a blur Ray and region 1-10 region dvd player. They start at 30 dollars and woth it when watching unreleased items from Europe. These discs are amazing and will always order more from the UK such as Catherine Tate and Black Books. Do buy a player and enjoy even more. Enjoyable dics as always.

I have all of the Christmas specials. I knew going into this that this box wouldn’t have them. I’d been putting off this purchase for over a decade. I’m pleased with the discs overall. The only thing I didn’t get were the laminated photos that came with it. In the pocket that would include maybe a booklet, I got a load of photos I didn’t put together and felt really stupid because I am an idiot American and believe me when I was the idiot who tried to match things up. I just felt dumb. I’m glad now for the references but I wish I would have done more homework because I DO care and DO research references that I may not get being stateside. The discs were in pristine condition so thank you for that!

I couldn't find the complete French & Saunders series available in any US-compatible release, but I'm so happy I still bought this format. I just backed up the DVDs to my computer and played the videos that way. I was able to binge watch them in a weekend.

Worst comedy series ever!I love the vicar of dibley but this is having the vicar being subservient to the actor from Absolutely Fabulous!She's a cold and unfunny ladies!I had very high hopes!If you live anywhere other than Britain you can't play it. Bk of the zone. I actually bought a DVD region free player I was so looking forward to seeing this!Dawn or the Vicar is her usual self the comedy is unforced but her counterpart isn't!It all seemed like a horrid SNL skit on themselves.We even tried several episodes from each disk hoping it would get better.No luck!I love British comedy usually. This however was far from being able to be called comedy.There are pieces that bring a chuckle but they are few and far between!Stay away.I hate writing this bk I enjo. And respect so much Dawn but it's a lot of money for a wreak of a show!

Comedy perfection

here in the united states we have only gotten to have compilations of the french and saunders shows. so i am thrilled to be able to watch all of them in their entirety. you should note that this is the complete SERIES. the specials are not included. i have most of the specials already so it's not as if i'm missing anything, but i'm baffled that they wouldn't just do an 'everything' box set of F&S. also take into account that on the back of the box in tiny little letters it says - due to contratual reasons certain edits have been made. (yes i know i mispelled contractual - that's how it is on the box!)so this is not a 'complete' collection of F&S because:1. some of it is edited2. there are none of the specials (titanic, lotr, phantom millenium)i'm still happy to have this and there are 19.5 hours to watch! i will OD on jen and dawn with that much to see.just be aware of the things missing from a 'complete' box set.

French and Saunders - bup a doowee doo! How daft are these two when they get together? Not only do these DVDs bring back terrific memories of being in my twenties, they remind me how Jennifer and Dawn made it possible for so called 'adults' to be just that little bit childish and showed us all how to have a good laugh at ourselves and enjoy life. They do, of course, still have that sense of childish humour today - and thank goodness for that!The first DVD starts out slowly but with the assistance of the brilliant Raw Sex, Betty Marsden and various special guests - "Mrs. Moyet" is hilarious! - soon picks up speed and reaches a level of constant humour and silliness. I challenge anybody who saw these original programmes to watch 'Whatever Happened to Baby Jane' or 'Silence of the Lambs' without laughing out loud to the memory of French and Saunders' depictions. Fantastic.

I've been a huge F&S fan for years and was excited to see this box set at a reasonable price. Born in the 80s, I didn't come across F&S until much later in their careers and so was looking forward to seeing more of their earlier series.Sadly, I was disappointed. If you were an avid F&S fan right from the beginning and want to relive those memories, then this it a good purchase: you can watch from 1-6 in one go, should you choose. However, if you've not seen the first 2 or 3 series, I wouldn't bother. The comedy duo 'Raw Sex' feature extensively and their humour really isn't to my taste (even though F&S generally is). The ideas are quite primitive in places and the laughs aren't as frequent. I already had 'The Best of F&S' and, unsurprisingly, the best, and funniest, sketches really are the ones selected.However, I did enjoy the later series and the final disc was enjoyable since it shows how far the duo have gone in their careers. It's a good price for what you get (6 full discs) although having watched them all once, I'm not sure I'll see them again for some time, making me think it was a slightly wasted purchase.All-in-all, I'd get the 'Best of' before buying this. You'll get more laughs and enjoy the funniest sketches.

I've loved F+S since they first started, so this boxed set is a wonderful trip down memory lane.It also reminds me how crap they were at first! Also how crap Raw Sex were throughout.By about series 3 or 4, it really starts to get into its stride.If you like F+S, then check out "Girls on Top", an earlier series, which included Ruby Wax, and is superb, but largely forgotten now.

This is such a treat. All of the French and Saunders programs together, in fact so many which I didn't see when it was broadcast many years ago. There are real comedy gems in this set which I knew, and some which are a great surprise. It is fascinating to watch their evolution from talented youngsters to a couple of the sharpest comedy actors in Britain. Guest appearances are an additional treat, as are the presence of the hilariously wry Raw Sex. Highly recommended.
