Best Cane Ever - Just right combination of stability and mobility AND it lasts forever!
The Hugo cane is excellent! I have a dozen canes of all sort from the single tip to various sizes of the claw footed canes. I have severe Peripheral Neuropathy, which makes my feet and lower legs numb to the ground. Thus, my need is generally not a lot of weight distribution, but instead, I need a stable and accurate gauge of where the ground is and how am I moving relative to it. Three fingers on a wall or a table does the same. The Hugo hits it on the nose. My hand on the cane gives me the needed sensation to be balanced and to move with confidence. When I have needed to put a lot of weight on the Hugo, it has responded with stability and comfort - the grip has a bump that distributes weight to the palm of your hand. Very Comfortable! The color is distinctive, meaning I am less likely to forget it since it fails to blend with anything. The giant logo and product text on the cane is ugly and much too large. If it were a label I would remove it. I think I'll try some paint thinner.... Excellent Cane! Best I have used. You gotta give it a try! ***Two and half year UPDATE: I have had my Hugo for two and a half years with daily use. It is the only cane I use because it is the best by any measure. I still agree with everything i said, and now can add the the feet four feet at the bottom of the cane look new and I have not had to replace them. The cane still gets comments and compliments regularly. While it won't last forever, after two and half years of abuse, the Hugo cane is still going strong longer than any other cane used regularly. ••••FOUR 4 year update: the cane continues to perform flawlessly. Period. No exceptions. I still use the cane regularly and it works perfectly every day. The beautiful blue color of the tube has worn off at the center of the big forward curve. If the cane is laid on it's back, the handle and the foot, both surfaces show no signs of wear. If it is placed on its side, the handle and foot hold the cane and no wear is visible. Only if it is placed on it's on it's "front" will any thing show wear. But the cosmetic wear on the "nose" of the tube does not affect its function in any way, so it does not affect my excellent reviews of this nearly perfect cane. It could have a bumper to protect the nose of the cane. It could come with a bracket that would allow it to hang on a table, but the self standing ability almost makes it unnecessary. The handle and strap (often the weakest item on a cane) are still like new. Other than the cosmetic wear from various scratches, the tube and the height adjustment mechanism function perfectly. The foot engages the ground, so it is dirty as expected, and it functions perfectly. I continue to occasionally purchase and try other canes looking for one better than this one, but I have found none better for my purposes. I can foresee a time when I will need a wider base to provide more stability than this cane provides. Otherwise, I expect to use this cane indefinitely. I'll say it again (at 2-1/2 year update) and I still say without reservation (at the 4 year update): "Excellent Cane! Best I have used. You gotta give it a try!"

I Love My Quadpod Canes!
I now have 2 of these canes. I keep one in my van, & use the other in the house. Due to a severe back disorder, I often need a mobility aid. I have a rollator walker that I use for long distance walking, & a couple of offset single tip canes. I never felt very supported or secure with the single tip canes, so I would always use my rollator if I wasn't able to get a shopping cart to assist me. On occasion, we'd go off & forget my walker, so I'd end up pushing my granddaughter's stroller, or just not go to the place where I couldn't get a shopping cart, like the mall. Now I keep one of my new quadpod canes in my van, so I'm always prepared! The quadpod cane is so stable & supportive! I hated my single tip cane, but I'd use it if my rollator wasn't available, or if the store was really small with narrow aisles, but I just never felt supported enough. Not anymore with my quadpod cane! In fact there are times now when I'd have used my rollator in the past, but I now use my quadpod cane. I had tried out a regular quadcane in the store, & while I liked the stability, I didn't like the look of the cane. It's been hard enough using these devices since I was 36 yrs old, that I didn't want to have to use something that you usually see an elderly stroke victim using. I'm not a little lightweight person either, but my cane has been able to hold me up several times when my leg buckled while I was walking. I've never felt like this cane isn't substancial enough for me either. It's light in weight, but feels as if you're leaning on something big & solid. My canes came preassembled, with wrapping around the shaft, & inside a plastic bag. There are 12 height settings. It's so easy to adjust the height too! Just unscrew the little collar at the base of the cane, push in the button, & raise or lower the cane shaft to your preferred setting. Then screw the collar closed. The cane has a nice comfortable handle with a strap hanging from it which has a reflective strip on it. I don't know what more can be said about the cane other than to give it a try! I've never had the quadpod come off, it's on there very securely. I have accidentally kicked it! It didn't hurt like the quad cane would have because the quadpod's base is made out of a hard rubbery type material. I have both of my canes in this pretty bright aquamarine color. I'd have preferred one in grape purple, or a nice bright pretty pink, but sadly it only comes in this turquoise color, called aquamarine, smoke, & black. It's nice to be able to set the cane beside you, let go, & not have it crash to the ground either! The only place that doesn't work so well is on carpeting, but I just lean it against something then. I have tested my cane on a number of different walking surfaces from carpeting to cement, & yesterday in soft wet soil at a cemetary, & it's done well at all places. In the wet soil, I thought I'd have to clean out the bottom, but there was nothing to clean out! So if you're looking at this cane, try it! You won't regret it! I predict you'll come to love your's just as much as I love mine! Oh, & be sure to put your name on it in permanent marker or it may just come up missing since it's such an awesome cane!! :o)

Very stable cane
I don't need a cane for everyday life, but occasionally I find one to be helpful if I need to do a lot of walking. So I did a little research among the various types of canes and decided to try the Hugo with the rubber base. I wanted a cane with a base, and some of the others seemed too large and bulky. It arrived assembled, which I appreciated. However, the box was sealed with clear packing tape, and I could see that the packing tape was stuck to some piece of paper attached to the cane. Not sure if it was the warranty or some other important information, so I had to open it very , very carefully. There was a good amount of craft paper in the box, but the cane was not wrapped in it in any way. No damage to the cane, but somewhat careless packing in my opinion. Using the cane, I was pleased to find that it was very stable. Even when I used it on uneven, grassy ground I felt secure with it. The comfortable ergonomic handle was easy to grip and the handy strap was well made. I also tested it on wood floors and was pleased to find that it did not slip in any way. It is light weight and balances very well. Stands up on its own, even on my short Berber carpet. I believe I will find this cane to be very useful in the years to come. Attractive aquamarine color....not crazy about the painted on logo, but one can't have everything. Overall, I would recommend this cane to others. No disclosure needed - I am a “reviewer” of Amazon products and often get things at a discount, however this item I have bought at FULL price for my own personal use. Thank you for reading my review!

Lightweight, sturdy, stable and comfortable
I bought this cane after I broke both legs this summer. I graduated from a wheelchair to a walker, and then I was ready for a cane. I wanted one with a wide base, so I could be sure to stay stable. After a long time looking online, I chose this one and I'm glad I did. I dithered between this base and a bigger one, and this was the right choice for someone with only minor stability concerns. This is a lightweight but solid cane, and it stands on its own, so that you can have it stand next to you and not worry about having to hook it on something to keep it upright and ready for you. It's easy to adjust the length of the cane, and the handle is very comfortable. It's a nice, flexible rubbery material on top, which is nice for your hand comfort. It's a hard, sturdy plastic on the bottom part of the handle. After using this for a month, I haven't yet seen any wear on the handle. Because the cane-length adjustment is done by way of those metal click buttons, you will get a little metallic clack sound with every step. It's not bothersome, at least to me, but you sure would find it hard to sneak up on anybody! I like the color of the cane; it makes a change from the usual black. I would be happier if the company name wasn't spelled out on the cane in giant letters. I try to avoid buying clothing or accessories with company logos on them, and I feel the same way about the cane.

Nice and sturdy, works well
Broke my ankle, and needed something to help me get around once I finally got a walking boot. This works really well. Doesn't have an articulated foot, but the foot is wide so it balances you pretty well. I have not felt it was flimsy in any way. And the price was great when I am now facing big hospital bills for the surgery to fix my ankle. Love the aqua color. It has a lot of different height adjustments, so, can be fixed to fit most people. Now that I am finally able to get my foot/ankle in a regular shoe, I can see I will be depending on this for another month or two until l get that ankle/leg back into normal shape. Good purchase IMO considering. It does stand on it's own, but does depend on you placing it on a flat surface, any kind of lumps or bumps under it, and it doesn't stand very well. Mine stands well on my vinyl flooring, and outside on my concrete patio when I sit at the table outside.

Super happy with purchase!
I just had a total knee replacement and ordered this cane to step up from the clunky walker the surgery center gave me. I live on 30 acres on the side of a mountain so the terrain is a mix of uneven grass, rock, gravel & dirt. The base on this quadpod is perfect for navigating the uneven ground and mixed terrain which makes my daily rehab walks a hell of a lot easier. The height adjustments are just right and there's a ring at the connection where the top pole and bottom pole meet that tightens, so the cane makes zero noise after you adjust it to your right height. This cane is excellent inside the house too. It stands up on its own and barely takes up any room so you can tuck it anywhere and it's out of the way. And even though this cane is very lightweight, it's SUPER STURDY and really takes a beating. My 65 lb hyperactive puppy has smashed into it multiple times at high speeds and this cane is still rock solid. A hyperactive dog + hardwood floors + a case of the zoomies = a recipe for destruction. I just put this cane in front of my leg and hold on tight when I hear him come running. So aside from an excellent walking aid, this cane is great protection too. I'd highly recommend this product.

(((5 STARS))) ALL THE WAY!!! This is the Ultimate Strong Cool Cane! A+++
Excellent sturdy cane! It stands up and is durable - LOVE IT!!! I was going to get a "hurrycane," but it looks like it's thin and not sturdy, plus it folds up (how can a fold-up be sturdy? This HUGO cane is so much better than the "Hurrycane," first of all it's so much cheaper! The Hugo quad bottom looks thicker and more sturdy than the hurricane. I have heard the Hurrycane parts on the bottom, wears out and you need to replace the screws and round moving parts and they are expensive too (Who wants to deal with that crap)! I am so happy with my HUGO Mobility Cane with super strong quad pod on the bottom. I have both cervical/shoulder problems, lower back problems, arthritis and I sometimes get dizzy, I need a super strong cane and this is my lifeline - it really does what I need it to do! It actually looks better in person also looks stronger in person! I gave this cane (((5 STARS))) all the way! Plus it has a sturdy height and lowering bar with holes and a metal button that adjusts to the perfect height! That "hurrycane" is a marketing crock, so expensive for such a crappy and spindly design! People I am telling you this cane The HUGO QUADPOD is the ultimate strong cane - plus it looks cool, not dorky!

stear clear for now May 2025
What a mess. Still on my never ending search for a set of canes that does not have grips made of foam. Foam cant be cleaned/disinfected, and is therefore unsanitary in my book. So everytime i touch my canes I dirty my hands. Thus this, my second attempt at replacements that I can clean. This is my second failed pair and thats after hours of searching, and on several different days. Companies are choosing profit over quality, or sanitation. I mean the foam 'grip' is likely drastically cheaper than an vinyl or plastic actual grip. Also, what you see in the photos of these that look like stickers are not stickers. They are bold bright huge hugo adverts on both sides of their canes. it only looks like a sticker (i had intended to remove) but is stenciled on in a 'raised' silkscreen maybe? anyway, no removing it without sandpaper. It only appeared as a sticker as they took the time and expense to cover all those company billboard advertisements on each side of the cane with plastic ripoff covers so the big advert isnt damaged and everyone knows who made the canes, utter bunk! Other than their vanity or greed in advertising on my canes, heres why im returning yet another blasted set of canes; 1) the jam nut on both do NOT function. So the possibility of you doing a face plant and maybe getting a broken bone or not is directly and ONLY dependent on that little hollow tin-like button. That button is only for adjusting the cane, then you tighten the nut. But their nut does nothing. I can even turn the two pieces and change button positions while tightened down. And yes its installed correctly with the ineffective plastic bushing. So there's that. 2) this is by far the biggest reason I will never use a company advertisement of a cane from them again...and these were sent from the same amazon warehouse at the same time, not buying two single canes, these are a matched set, I say matched with jest as they are two different length uppers on this matched set. THATS RIGHT, TWO DIFFERING HEIGHTS! They even have serial numbers, these canes. A thirteen place serial number? On a cane!? These serials match the first half exactly so im thinking same batch, maybe? Anyway one cane no matter where you set your button holes at, one is taller by the lenth if their non-performing jam-nut/locknut. Setting next to one another, one is longer by the width of that nut plus some. Don't matter. No jam nut funtion and differing height makes these dangerous and improper. And with that big bold advertisement that they're so worried about scratching in shipping you'd think they would put a little bit of the logo time and efforts into actually building properly functioning canes, versus billboards for their company. These were not twelve dollar canes. I paid fifty buck plus for the set/pair.
