Gorgeous ukulele that plays and sounds incredible!
I am very impressed with this ukulele. It is well constructed and the sound is crisp, clear and perfect volume. The blue color is stunning. I asked several friends to guess the price I paid, and they all assumed it was in the hundreds. I recently returned a ukulele from another company as it felt too small for my fingers to play chords within the narrow frets. This Ranch tenor size is perfect for me, and I am totally pleased with my purchase, and I highly recommend this company to anyone on the market for a superior instrument at a very reasonable, affordable cost.

Very satisfied 1st-time ukulele owner!
Short -- Very impressed with this product, great mid-range gift idea (for someone not too young), good introduction to other string instruments or music-making in general. Keep in mind that this model does come with a rather nice little gig bag to store/carry the uke in, but does not come with an accessories kit like other, similar models from Ranch Ukulele. Great customer service here, as well. -- I have had zero physical contact with a ukulele prior to ordering this one, but a long-distance friend of mine turned me on to the concept of trying it out, since I have played instruments off and on for a hobby over the years. I did a little research on ukulele quality, as I sort of knew the less expensive ones can be... a baby step into the musical world. I didn't want to pay out an excessive amount for a new instrument, either, not knowing how much I'd enjoy it. Regardless, I'm rather impressed by what I found here. I assume I hit a sweet spot on quality and price. It's rather beautiful for such a basic design - simple, clean, and... I guess I'm a bit biased on the color! But I can't find any faults with the craftsmanship here, for the price point. I have heard of issues on lower-priced ukuleles with the tuners keeping the strings in tune, sometimes not even through songs. The strings that came with this seem to be quite a popular brand, however, and the tuners don't seem to slip. I did have a few issues with tuning for the first several days, but I assumed this might be normal with nylon strings. After a day or two, it sounded just fine until I'd pick it up hours later, and after a full week I barely had to tune it up to pitch after sitting. And the sound! I'm sure there is a distinct difference compared to more pricey models, but... I was really surprised after I found the right spot to strum on the tenor. I suppose I've been around far too many $5-10 "guitars" and "ukes" from the toy section... Regardless, while I'm not great at playing it just yet, I do feel like I can make -music- instead of just noise with it! I do play some guitar, so I have a -little- experience with string instruments, but nothing to write home about. I was able to play some simple stuff from the first day, but considering the size, number of strings, and basic chords, I believe anyone could enjoy their first time with a ukulele and want to learn and play more. It would be a great gift for someone who hasn't played an instrument before. If your prospective giftee is a bit on the younger side, and you're afraid they might be rough with it, I would suggest a cheaper model for now, just in case. If you feel they're old enough to respect any instrument as more than a toy, though, I feel this would be a great place to start! Ranch Ukulele does offer "Free Online 12 Lessons" with this purchase, which is offered on a printed sheet coming with the instrument. The backside of this sheet shows 30 basic chords to get you started, but the rest of this offer is fulfilled on their website. Just something to keep in mind for anyone who might still have limited access these days. The lessons and courses are quite fine, 12 lessons indeed, and as of this review, 7 song lessons on top of that. You'll soon find yourself looking elsewhere for more tips and songs/chords/ideas to keep you going, but it's definitely a place you can start learning. All-in-all, I consider this a great purchase, and I'll be recommending Ranch Guitar to anyone looking for their first ukulele!

Update: Tenor Starry Blue
Update: love the Ranch ukuleles. I’ve ordered multiples and am adding the most recent review. Ordered this one for a Christmas present. She took to a uku meet up and the experienced players comments confirmed my views. Great sound; quality product (could net believe the price); stays in tune; this will not be my last. A small story of how I found the Ranch Ukulele. I am a high school teacher of 30+ years and for the first time ever am facilitating several independent studies classes. One young man selected the music industry careers as his topic for the semester. I asked if he played an instrument and his response of "no, but I want to" started a group quest to find what might work for him. Fairly soon I was working with half a dozen students wanting to try the Ukulele. One of the young men said he know someone who could play and would ask him to come to teach some of the basics. He agreed and the quest for instruments began. After several days of research, begging family and friends to help, we finally received a couple of classroom instruments. One teacher, six students, and 2 ukuleles make learning next to impossible. One of the girls told me she found the ukulele she was going to get for class. Her eagerness to share the find caused me to slow down and take a look. She had actually found a ukulele that was not too expensive and looked a lot better than the "toy" ones she first wanted. I agreed to order it for her and she could pay me back in installments. Please watch her video final where she discusses the Ukulele and explains why she choose this one. Fast-forward to now, Ukulele fever is spreading and I believe we have found one of the BEST Beginner Ukuleles Amazon has to offer. I purchased the Tenor Kit first (so check out my other students in that review), this concert second, and I will be placing an order for at least two more in the very near future. Hope the videos convey the quality in construction, the sound, and the fun of play.

Very Nice Uke
This a very nice Uke. Beautiful blue color, nicely made, decent sound for a beginner instrument. It plays well. Only complaint is that after a week of considerable playing and constant retuning, the E and A strings still slip out of tune easily - flat. It might be the string, perhaps the tuners. Will keep at it. Other than the tuning, it’s well worth the price.

More than I expected
I was very surprised when I opened the package to see this beautiful Tenor Ukulele. I love the color, how well it's constructed and built, found no issues whatsoever, very well put together with no flaws. Fret wire ends are smooth no need to worry about getting fingers cut from sharp edges, the tuning pegs work great doesn't rattle or loosen stays in place. The Ukulele is light easy to carry, won't feel tire holding it for a period of time. The bridge is glued well don't see any flaws such as cracks or parts of it not supported and holds the string in place well. This Ukulele and one of my other Tenor the Enya X1 are my go too Ukuleles when I go out with family, relatives and friends at parties or hanging out at the beach playing our Ukuleles. I recommend this Ukulele to everyone and I've done a lot of reading of reviews on Ukuleles and I do disagree on some that will minus a star because the tone the Ukulele plays don't sound good to them, there's nothing wrong with the Ukulele if it is not buzzing or rattling while strumming or finger picking then the Ukulele is doing what its supposed to do and that's play music if you are unhappy with the tone the remedy is to just change the strings, maybe the strings that are on the Ukulele is not for you, not all strings sound the same some play low and others play mellow or high, it all depends on what tone you like you just need to try different types until you find a set of strings that sounds good to you, so the issue is not the Ukulele or Manufacturers, it's the strings being used and that is not a reason to deduct a star but if there are issues such as buzzing, rattling or any other flaws on the Ukulele then that's a reason to deduct. I plan on getting the Concert version of this one as well to add to my collection once purchase I will give my review on that one as well. Stay tune to follow soon

This is the ukulele you want to get.
Buying a musical instrument online is a scary proposition: the adjustments are so critical that you don't know whether what you will be getting is going to qualify as a "real" instrument or a toy. But going to a local store so you can try an instrument before you buy it usually costs at least twice as much. So, it's worth it to take the chance. Ranch is a relatively new brand of ukulele on Amazon, so isn't mentioned in many online reviews yet. I did find a couple of Youtube videos that made it seem like a good bet, so I decided to get one, and I'm very happy. One of the reviewers thought that the bridge on his uke was too high and recommended filing it down, but I found my Ranch ukulele to be perfectly adjusted when I got it. The intonation is good and the tone is clear, the strings don't buzz on the frets and are not too high. The frets are smooth; you can rub your finger along the edge of the fingerboard without feeling ridges. Many reviews for other ukuleles recommend changing whatever strings it comes with to Aquila nylgut strings; this uke is strung with Aquila nylguts already. The blue is a stain, not paint, and shows the grain of the wood which makes for a beautiful look. Finally, I must say that the customer support is fantastic (Hi, Bree!). My ukulele came with a piece of paper saying "if you're missing these extra items, contact us". It was a mistake; actually the extra items only come with the beginner's bundle, but they offered to send them to me _anyway_. How cool is that? As I mentioned, my ukulele was perfect, but from my experience with their customer service, I'm sure they will go the extra mile to make things right if there are any issues.

Finally, a real ukulele at this price point. Not a toy!
I've gone through many of the entry level ukuleles on Amazon. Each had significant flaws: dull, muted sound, action so high it was unplayable, inability to stay in tune even during a playing session, sharp frets, strings more suited for a Hello Kitty guitar, etc. This is a real instrument. It's very playable, resonant, has a nice sound, and stays in tune. It's no frills: no extra strings, no tuner, no strap, no capo, no introductory lessons, not even a pick. Instead you get a decent, playable ukulele with a better case than most offered at this price point.

Beautiful uke!
This is a beautiful concert uke. It fell out of tune constantly for the first week or so which is normal for new strings - but it sounds great now and is a lot of fun to play. The color is absolutely stunning and the craftsmanship is great, especially for the price. We love our little uke.

Looks as good as the pictures, plays beautifully.
Beautiful Ukulele, I bought for my wife for Christmas, she had a soprano (starter brand) before and enjoyed playing it. When it was unboxed I was worried that the pictures would look better than the product, but was very pleasantly surprised to find that it looked as good if not better than the pictures. Sounds great, nice rich tone. Seems to be good quality construction. Gig bag is decent quality.

Colourful little Uke!
Love my new uke! I especially like the colour. Easy to play and came right on time. Strings come out of tune easy for the first couple weeks, but once it’s broke in, they stay in tune pretty good. Shipped to my Po box which was great!

Not outstanding in anyway, but a good buy for the price.
Seems like a nice little uke for the price. After stretching the strings and playing it a few times, it stays in tune reasonably well throughout a session. The tuners do feel noticibly cheap, but seem to work well and don't slip. The frets feel clean and smooth. The fit and finish is decent enough, no gaps or cracks in anything. I'm not a fan of the decoration around the sound hole, especially since the fretboard overlaps much of it (the pictures don't show this). The color is also much darker than the photos suggest, it is almost black, but still very pretty. The body feels very light and potentially delicate, it seems to lack "substance", but the light weight might be a preference for some. The sound is clean and clear, no buzzing stings or muted strings. The gig bag is also very nice, much better than what comes with a lot of kits. The front pocket provides ample space for a capo and tuner and other little accessories. Overall, considering it is an inexpensive Chinese made ukulele, I think it is a good buy for the money. If you can extend your budget and buy something a little higher quality, I would suggest that. If this is the top of your budget though, and you want something with a slightly different look, I feel like this a good choice.
