I read these comics as a child over and over again. They are well written and beautifully illustrated, witty and very entertaining. The story follows the members of a small village in Gaul whom resist the Roman Empire by virtue of a super-strengthening potion brewed by their druid Getafix. The heros of the stories are Asterix ( a short, but smart warrior) and his best friend Obelix ( a large, boar meat loving, loyal but not smart warrior whom fell in a cauldron of magic potion as a child and as a result has permanent super strength). You can read each comic seperately and be able to follow the story, though certain characters do repeat throughout the series. I am buying them again as an adult and enjoying them just as much as I did as a kid. I definitely recommend these comics.

If you haven't read the stories of Asterix and Obelix you should. The translations are great - keeping the puns and the light touch. Very enjoyable.

This is what French cartoons are all about: lots of humor, no superhero if you except these two, one tiny and one obese, who get their superstrength from a magic potion. And of course, being French (or Gallic as they were called at this time), they eat and sing. Every French child know them by heart.

Loved these books as a kid (grew up in Europe.) Excited to find them in "Omnibus" format (3 in 1) to make them more economical. Love reading them with my daughter.

Grew up on Asterix and Obelix. I have passed on the tradition to my children!!!

Was bought as a gift. The person I bought it for has all of these books and this was the latest.He wanted it last Christmas but it wasn't available until this year. So I bought it for him for this Christmas.

With this I now complete my Asterix Omnibus collection with all the volumes. Print and format is the same as the individual books. The Omnibus format is fabulous and more compact. The hardcover version is definitely the way to go (ordered a few earlier in softcover but wish I had gone HC for all).
