Great seller, great product
Seller 5 stars, kit 4 starsTook me a little while to get the kit installed on my first bike, and from the get go I started having speedo issues. Apparently this is a common problem where you have to mount the sensor just right. After my first failed ride, the speedo sensor died completely and would not register at all. Junstar jumped on the case, had me ship the kit to their repair center and I got the issue resolved. I reinstalled it into my road bike since and its been working great. Now for the kit itself. First off, this thing is HEAVY. The combination of the motor and battery is way heavier than I expected. It is what it is, but I was taken by surprise. With the assist levels on, you don't really feel it, but if you turn off assist, pedaling the bike becomes WAY harder. The motor sitting on the pedals also feels very strange. You can definitely feel how it pulls and it just takes some time to get used to that feeling. Moving the bike backwards is also jarring as the motor will fight you. Now the power of his drive is AWESOME. Im a big guy (280lbs) and I've had no problems going up huge hills with minor input. If anything it makes my ride too easy. The one down side of the kit is the way it mounts to the frame. The drive just slides into the bottom bracket and is supposed to just be held in place by tightening the bracket nuts on, but this is crap. Within 10 seconds it will come loose and will just dangle off the frame. I took a large hose clamp, cut it in the middle and attached the ends to the sides of the motor and tied the whole assembly to my frame. This keeps it fairly stationary, but its shitty that they haven't come up with an out of the box solution. This is why the kit loses one star.Overall its great for what I need and Im happy with my purchase.

Powerful mid-drive ebike motor!
Powerful motor even on very steep knarly mountain bike trails. Riding over rock gardens was a breeze, just make sure you shift on the right gear before you go through the technical area. I usually have the power level assist set at 3 o 4 so not to overpower it when going through slow technical climbs or rock gardens. The Power level can go up to 9...but 5 is the highest I've used it on steep climbs. Having a good suspension helps go through tough obstacles...I only use 6 - 9 power level assist on a very long flat off road trails, but I very rarely use power level over 5.I have bad knees, 2 surgeries on both. I only use my ebike to have fun and help me strengthen my leg muscles. I highly recommend this BBSHD motor.

but honestly for 800Bucks is not that bad, fair enough for me
So far 250 KM trip... and still working well,... from home to my work is about 5.8Kms, and it takes me 13 Minutes, the maximum speed I reached is 47KM/H and the average is about 25 KM/H,,, I noticed that it has lost some power if I compare from the very beginning when I started to use it, but honestly for 800Bucks is not that bad, fair enough for me, If you are very beginner in ebikes, I suggest it to you, the installation is quite easy, foolish proof, I only suggest just patience and double check the dimensions what you need before proceeding with the purchase, in the internet (youtube) you can find many instructions... I would buy one more for my wife! I I promise I will add a video when I reach 500 trip to update the review (if amazon allows me) ...

Gets you there and back again!
Awesome product. Makes a cheap bicycle into a great road machine. I am an older rider (74) and lack the stamina of the younger flatbellies who one sees riding their bikes. So, the reserve power helps me up the harder hills and ensures I actually get where I’m heading. Quiet and smooth shifts, both mechanical and electrical. The only reason for four stars vs five is the kludgy wiring one ends up with.

Really impressed so far
Installed this on a Giant 26" commuter type bike with the 17ah battery. Works phenomenally well for this purpose and I cant be more happy so far with the performance and ease of installation. The shift sensor is very helpful, so that is more than recommended. I am riding 20 miles round trip to work and it handles that easily without needing a charge (350ft elevation change to and from work, so the trip home is up hill a lot). Going up hill it can maintain ~20mph in a decent gear (6th gear of 7 speed rear cassette) and hits 30mph+ on flat, both with a decent pedal just to not drain the battery too much. Google says bike commute for me is 45-50min one way for that 10 miles, and I've done it consistently in 30-35min depending on how much I want to pedal or headwind etc.

You will need special tools for this upgrade.
Nice e bike upgrade.I tried other e bikes. They are wimpy and expensive. This will get you up any hill. You will be impressed.....Ask for a wire diagram. Makes install easyer....

fantastic after the needed program cable
very quiet, fantastic after the needed program cable. Throw the supplied crank arms in the recycle can if you plan to ride it hard. A shift sensor is a needed addition as well.

Dont think, just do it!
I bought this from Junstar-EU and I have to say their customer service is 10/10. I requested the hydraulic brake sensors instead of the normal brakes and very promptly (24hrs) received a reply confirming that these would be sent. I enquired a out the bike I was thinking of converting and Junstar agreed to send me a few extra bits like washers etc, which while not expensive in themselves certainly add a touch of great customer service.I have bought the kit to convert a Trek dual sport 2, a 2020 model. A few adjustments had to be made to the bike but it's nothing that a bit of research and YouTube cant help with. By adjustments I dont mean anything particularly technical so for those who are thinking of converting their first bike I can also recommend this bike. The kit works perfectly so far and I've had no issues. I requested the 500c display and its relatively compact but still very easy to use with gloves on and doesnt give the impression that it's an e-bike display, more like an odometer or speedometer.I requested the 52V 14Ah battery I've been using it on pedal assist 5 as I like to get from A to B quite quickly, I've also been combining that with throttle use and together I get around 15-20 miles. If I were to use a lesser pedal assist then i would get more mileage.Be aware that the company will send you the battery separately from the e-kit, or atleast they did for me. I think it has to do with the transport of a potentially dangerous item. So dont be alarmed when you receive the e-kit on it's own the battery is more than likely on it's way. I messaged Junstar about this and they very quickly got back to me and also gave me the DPD tracking number for the battery.Overall I'm very happy with my purchase, great for those who want a bit more speed in their commute or for the occasional uber eats delivery rider like myself.Well done Junstar would definitely purchase again when converting another bike!RECOMMENDED!

Fantastic
I would scoop out a kidney with a spoon in order to get another one of these if I get another bike for the misses. If you don't know anything about bikes then it could take a whole day to fully set up.If you're experienced then a couple hours at most. You must have a bike tool set.Once set up you should cable tidy it neatly so cables can not get caught.I would suggest buying a new chain and maybe some new gears if your bike is old because the power and speed this puts out is immense.I used to walk to work and it took me 27 minutes if I walked fast.A bus on a good day would be 20 minutes, 35 on a bad day. With a push bike around 15 minutes. With this motor, under 7 minutes. When you push that thumb throttle the bike takes off.The motor and battery will add a lot of weight onto your bike. So think about that if you carry your bike up stairs. The set is expensive, but I believe it's worth every single penny. In less than 18 months the motor would have paid for itself from the money I have saved by not using public transport.

Best ebike kit strong, reliable and all rounder.
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I had to look around a long time before I decide to purchase also let's be clear also I'm no mechanic but most of the job is real easy to install you may need assistance removing parts on the bike to prepare for installation. If you have no clue you can watch YouTube but since I got this kit I never looked back and so far I have over 120 miles on the clock it's insane piece of high quality kit it does have limits aka your battery defines it's all really and keeping a close eye following instructions on how to use will allow you to sleep at night with no issues. Other than that 52v battery does the job more than you could ever need unless you really want to safe guard get another battery then you can be out on your bike for hours and you are pretty much laughing the options are endless but for now ones enough for me I barely charge it that often having a 52v I think it's 17.5ah, I can charge it once every 2 weeks and that's using it full blast and doing a maximum of 10-15 miles once a day and having 50% battery left over surely you could get more miles on it every two weeks on lowest assist mode and still be traveling easy no stress but expect to use your brakes more often if living in the city, but seriously don't wait to buy a fully built over priced ebike that takes months to be built and delivered any old bike will do I have down hill MTB and it does the job for me but only problem is to mount the battery so far I mount it on my rear rack and I don't like the weight distribution and planning to move it eventually. Don't mind the electrical tape. ;) Also just thought I should also say the hydraulic brake sensor did come a few days after late but not a problem and the service via email to Junstar-EU are amazing the most helpful and attentive people I've ever had dealings with big shout out to them for all the service provided really can't thank Junstar-EU enough really pleased with my order top notch!

Very impressed! Very happy!
If you’re looking for a DIY ebike kit, look no further! The Bafang BBSHD kit is absolutely awesome and relatively easy to fit. You’ll need some basic bike tools and some basic bike maintenance knowledge. The kit arrived in two parts. The battery came within a week of ordering and the rest of the kit arrived three weeks later. Great comms from the seller too. I’ve now done 100+ miles and I’m seriously impressed. The motor performance is remarkable. Just be careful. It’s powerful!
