My first and favorite Eric Carle book
This is one of the first books I bought for our older son, who is now 52. I couldn't find his copy when his children were born, so I bought a new copy and have now passed that on to another sweet child. And I've continued to buy copies for children who are special to me. It's a counting book and just as beautiful and simple and perfect as you'd expect an Eric Carle book to be. Highly recommended.

Love it
I love this book. It is perfect for toddlers who love trains and animals (one of my kids shows interest in numbers). It is easy to read and short, so it is great for circle time.

Most engaging counting book I’ve seen
Children love to read this book because the rich illustrations prompt them to write and rewrite, tell and retell, share and share again the story of Eric Carle’s classic visit to the zoo.

I raised my kids with books by Eric Carle and now my grandson too. His books are always exceptional with colors that are brilliant. Highly recommend any of his products.

Educational and fun
My 13 months old daughter loves this book; I have borrowed it from a library and it became such an indispensable favorite of our bedtime routine that I had to buy it. My daughter and I enjoy the beautiful watercolors - vivid, crisp and not too busy to distract a very young reader, and she has an especially great fun in finding a little brown mouse hidden among the zoo animals on each picture. She does not count yet, but for an older child this book can provide a lot of additional fun with counting animals on each of the 10 train-cars and seeing them all safely unloaded in the zoo.

Wonderful bold illustrations. Lots to look for and count on each page. Eric Carle's familiar style never disappoints and, in a very simple way, totally engages toddlers.
