Est: Erhard Seminars Training: 60 Hours That Transform Your Life

Now that Werner has been hiding out in Europe for over 20 years, it's very hard to find information about the Training. Whatever you may think, or have heard about Erhard, the EST training was enormously beneficial to thousands of people. He distilled many different teachings into a coherent program that fit the 70s and 80s perfectly. Not as dry as Dale Carnegie, not as warm and fuzzy as Tony Robbins, Erhard worked for me. Ms. Bry's book captures the experience about as well as any written document could. Since (unfortunately) you will never have the chance to "just be there" in person, snap up this book while it is still available!

I love the book. Very honest portrayal of a movement that swept through the country in the 70's and 80's and wonderful tidbits from the "inside" of est. I thought it was very objective even though the author experienced the class and was very positive about it. Adelaide Bry is a great researcher and writer. I did the est training in 1972 and am still reaping the benefits in the quality of my relationships and my relative equanimity in difficult times. This book describes est as I remember it. Bry is a fan, although she includes critiques as well.

Decided to order the book because of my new obsession with werner and est. I have an intense interest in powerful words and ideas that cut through the very soul of man. Absolutely love the book, the reading takes you through a very subjective and experiential journey of the training.

as far as personal growth and the empowerment, personal responsibility movement starting from wayyyyyyyyyy back, I consider this a necessary read for anyone in the coaching, counseling, leading or teaching field... a necessary foundation book for anyone in the helping professions, or just life... parenting, leading, etc.

I bought this after it appeared in my favorite show (the Americans). The book was just a bunch of case studies saying how spending 60 hours (in an est training seminar) had transformed the lives of those individuals. No real specifics about what the est training entails. The book is nothing but a marketing springboard to what I'm assuming was a very expensive seminar which is apparently defunct but continued through Landmark Worldwide.

I went through this 60 hour "training" back in 1979 so this book was very interesting to read. I recommend it to anyone that have had any connections with est.
