Durable, and a bargain
I bought a pair of these 2 years ago, and my 10-year-old and his friends have used them consistently, climbing rocks and running them into each other and the curbs, and generally abusing them, and these cars are indestructible! I have not replaced a single part. Quite a good car, and quite a bargain…

Way fun
I got this and the Ridge Runner at the same time. This has larger tires and is a little higher on the body sides. It offers an amazing value if you have always wanted to try crawling. The 4 wheel steering Is the true star of the show, and allows you to get in and out of tight spaces and really conquer just about any terrain. The tires are decent for what they are but would benefit from some softening (perhaps modifying the foam?). They grip well in softer mud and gravel, but seem to lose grip on smooth slippery rocks (most of my crawling is done in water worn stream beds and among glacial deposited boulders). Tires do have real bead locks which is pretty dang cool. I also think the tire do get better after spinning on rock to break them down a bit. The motor and servos are well up to the task and I never find myself wishing for more power. Battery life is about 40 mins of hard driving. Remote is comfortable and easy to understand and set up. About the only downside is the steering indicators are a bit dim in bright light and can be hard to see. I'm pretty new to crawling but not to RCs and I cannot believe I didn't get this years ago. I have more fun climbing rocks and such than I do ripping and bashing my other cars. To me this is the true off road RC adventure! If you like the challenge of picking a line and trying to make it work, than give this amazing machine a go. If you like it, the upgrades available for this are mind boggling, and if you don't find the thrill, then you have not invested a ton and are able to resell it for minimal (if any) lose.

This Rock Crawler is way more than expected and lives up to the hype
Cool little truck. I wanted something to just play around with and this is exactly what I was looking for. Like many other RC enthusiast have pointed out, this is not a cheap Wally World toy but a real RC truck. I have flown RC airplanes and Helicopters for over 25 years but because of time and costs involved had to lay down the sticks. I didn't want a Go-Fast truck but something that would take some skill to go over various terrain. If that's what you want then for the money this truck is awesome. It's not going to do what a 800 truck can do but I've read where many hardcore RC rock climbers have one of these in their fleet. It's really fun to test your skills. Again, it is not designed for going fast but if you want to spend hours of fun with your buddies, kids, etc. then I highly recommend. It's not waterproof nor does it have brushless motors, although there are those who have upgraded theirs but it is still worth twice the money...enjoy

Great bang for the buck
I bought this as my first crawler. It's quite impressive, performance wise. The 3 steering modes are very helpful. It has decent power with a 2s lipo battery that I added. It's very capable and a lot of fun. Really an excellent bang for the buck. I added weight in the tires and took the foams out. These 2 minor mods made a big difference. The tires are ok'ish. They get grippier with use. You really can't expect any more than what you get for the money. This a great value and I really don't think there is a machine that can compete in this price range. All that said, I ordered a redcat gen 8 a week later. I liked that all parts on the danchee are readily available when something breaks. What I didn't like about this crawler is lack of upgrades. The suspension and steering links are plastic and have a lot of flex when in a slight bind and there's no metal links to replace them with. I also wanted something a little more realistic. The motor on axle setup provides really good performance and articulation but at the expense of losing driveshafts and the realistic looks you get from them. It just doesn't have the quality look and feel you get from hobby grade machines. My son is now enjoying the heck out of the danchee. It will actually do some things my gen 8 won't do at 3x the price. I'd recommend this to anyone wanting to get into a crawler on a budget, just don't be surprised if it leaves you wanting more.

Most capable Ready To Run 1/10 crawler at this price point by far!
This truck is an absolute steal of a deal! I can't think of another RTR crawler out there that can provide this level of performance at this price point. The amount of flex you get out of this thing right out of the box is insane! I have been able to take truck places where it has no business going because of the amount the wheels/axles can move without causing the car to roll or tip. The 4 wheel steering is so awesome. It makes maneuvering this truck around on tight obstacles so easy. It includes one battery and that has been more then enough for our crawling sessions. We typically get 30+ minutes out of a single charge. My boys and I usually go out and do 15-20 minute sessions after I get home from work once to twice a week. We usually get 2 sessions before we need to charge the battery. If you are the type that wants to crawl for longer then this I'd recommend picking up another battery. But this length of time is perfect for our attention span. The truck has proven to be durable thus far. We've rolled it, tumble end over end, sideways rolls, and every other way rolls you can think as we try to push it to its crawling limits. We flip it back over and it keeps going without any issues. The plastic body is holding up well. It has a few scratches on it, but we bought it to play with not to treat it like a shelf princess. But even then the car still looks great. The remote is easy for my 9 and 11 year old boys to use. It is intuitive, and after about 10 seconds of showing them what each knob an button does they were good to go. The Ridgerock is capable of going fast enough that it is fun for my boys to driving around on the grass or dirt. The remote has a throttle adjustments knob that makes it so the power and speed can be turned down so it is more controllable when you are are crawling up technical rock sections at low speeds. Or in the case of my 9 year old, I can also easily be turned back up so he can monster truck up the same technical rock sections at high speeds haha... Did I mention it is durable... Yes, the aftermarket upgrade support isn't really there for this RC crawler. But that's ok. I feel like most people buying this are not looking for something they want to sink a ton of money into to make it fun and capable. With that being said, I wish there was a bit more aftermarket upgrades available. But again, I don't think that is what Redcat was going for when they designed this car. Replacement parts are readily available in case you break something. Exploded diagrams with part numbers are available to help you identify what part you need to purchase. Plus Redcat customer support is super helpful. I bought this car for my boys to be able to use as a gateway vehicle into the RC crawling world. I wanted something affordable, easy to use, capable, and durable. It has served us really well for the past 3 months. I ended up picking up a Redcat Everest 10 I will be giving to my 11 year old son for Christmas as my 9 year old is slowly laying claim to this car. Only small criticism I have for this crawler, is I wish it was easier to see what steering mode you have selected on the remote. You have front wheel only, opposite steering, crab walk steering, and rear wheel only steering. In the day light it is hard to see which steering mode is selected because the light is too dim. It's pretty normal for us to have to cover up the remote a little so we can see the glowing red indicator. Other then that I don't have much to complain about. In short this is a fun hobby grade RC crawler. The 1/10 scale is enormous, as are the tires. That is part of what makes driving it so much fun. Even though I referred to it as a gateway crawler for my boys. I don't see us selling it anytime soon because of how fun it is. Sometimes you just need to get out and monster truck up and over obstacles.
