Tenda MW3 Whole Home Mesh Router WiFi System (Pack of 3)

This is a great mesh system but has one major caveat - the WAN port (that connects to your modem via Ethernet) can only go up to 100 mbps, whereas the WiFi can go up to ~ 800 / 300 mbps. So you will either need to buy an expensive MW6 model from Tenda (which you do not get as a single piece) or live with 100 mbps.I have given this 2 stars (instead of one) only because it is awesome as far as WiFi signal strength goes and very easy and intuitive to set up. So if you are okay with max speeds of total 100 mbps across all devices - go for it.

I was facing too many issues with my TP LInk AC1200 dual-band router earlier. After replacing with Nova I am seeing a marked improvement in my connection.Earlier ppl used to complain my connection is intermittent esp during WhatsApp calls and Team meeting video calls. Both I use primarily for work. After getting this Nova it's amazing to see that issues just disappear. Also, my underlying bandwidth connection is still 10 MBPs.If I was ordering again with this knowledge I would place an order for 3 nodes instead of 2. Right now I will continue with only two. My house ~ 1000 sft on each floor is fully covered with two nodes.

I am changing the review to 2 stars because I tried playing around a bit. The firmware doesn't upgrade very well and people are complaining it in the Tenda forums. The support in India is oblivious to the fact that a new firmware is available. The service center doesn't have enough stock for replacement. Support says that I should not complain if it is working fairly alright - that is unacceptable because I need some specific configurations that works for me and my devices which is not possible. My old published review is below.--------------------There is a reason why I have given a 4 stars instead of 5. I will provide you all the pros and cons of this device.Pros:-1) Excellent coverage - I pretty much live in a concrete bunker and the signal penetration was a challenge with all the routers, these 3 devices cover all the nooks and crannies of the home.2) Easy setup - The iPhone / iPad app was so simple that someone with minimal networking knowledge could configure it. The app is interactive and guides you step by step.3) Linking all 3 devices - The linking was very easy, once I installed the first device, configured it using the iPhone app, I simply powered on the other two devices in 2 different rooms and they got connected in under 1 minute automatically.4) Intelligent network - The device is smart enough to do a capacity based network allocation such that your laptop, iPad etc. uses the 5Ghz network that has shorter range but better speeds but the devices like printers etc. uses the 2.4 Ghz network that has higher range but lower speeds (which is anyways not required for printers).5) Multi-Device Management - the load gets shared very well and there is no degrade of any sort when multiple devices are connected. I own 2 iPhones, 2 iPads, 1 Printer, 4 laptops and 1 smart TV and everything when switched on all at once the load was well balanced.Cons:-1) No web/browser interface - There is no browser interface so unless you have a phone or tablet it is impossible to configure the device with a laptop.2) Missing features - I was unable to find advanced features like DHCP address reservation, security WPA etc. Parental control is very basic and it just allows you to configure the devices that can be used rather I was expecting do some content filtering like blocking certain websites etc.3) Firmware update - it is smart enough to detect the version of the firmware and download it automatically when pressed a button but dumb enough not to distribute the same firmware to all the connected devices.Overall, the hardware and connectivity is good and solves the main purpose but the app is too simple/featureless and a missing web interface for advanced configuration is a turn off. I wish Tenda would have put few of the advanced features that even a Rs.1000 router carries these days but if you just want to plug and play - this is the device for seamless connectivity.

I have had wifi network problems at my current residence for as long as I can remember. Tried various options (such as powerline Ethernet, etc.) but nothing worked satisfactorily. Eventually settled on using a Tplink repeater with my original wifi network -- this was a patched up solution but worked OK. Both latency and bandwidth when connected to the repeater were poor, but in the absence of another solution had to live with it.Finally after much research decided to buy the Tenda mesh router system. Installation was a breeze with my ACT fibernet connection. Only after experiencing the setup procedure for this system have I come to realize how archaic the other wifi routers are (requiring a LAN cable connection for initial setup, etc.). Now I have good network coverage all over the house, irrespective of whether I am connected to the main router or the secondary one. The app to manage the router is somewhat basic, but does its job fairly well. Most importantly, this is much cheaper than the mesh routers from other manufacturers. I would strongly recommend it over more traditional wifi routers.My only regret ... not getting the 3 unit package which would have been absolutely perfect for my place.

Product is easy to install.But so far two mayor problems encountered:1. The upload speed is pathetic with less than 1 Mbps on a 250 Mbps Jio connection.2. All my Canon AirPrint printer do no connect to the created WIFI. Apparently this device work on both, 2.4 and 5 GHz frequency so that should not be the problem.

Great buy. Given that in my apartment I had many walls between the wifi router and hence I was unable to get decent wifi speed into my study room. After installation of Nova MW6 all those headaches are gone. I feel 3 are too much for 1900 sq feet apartment. 2 should suffice. Hence many a time I keep 1 switched off. Been using since last 8 months and had absolutely no issues till date. Finger crossed.

I have no complaints whatsoever with the router. Wonderful in every way but for one caveat which I missed because I did not read the fine print. The WAN/LAN ports are restricted to 100Mbps. So if you have an internet connection that gives you more this router is not for you. I realized this only after I contacted Tenda support. :(

I have a fairly small home of 1400 sqft and traditional router always had signal problems and would normally get 13 to 15% signal in my home office. Installed Nova under 2 mins and now I get 100% signal across my house. It doesn’t drop signal, it doesn’t have multiple ssids like traditional range extender. Best router ever used. I only wish it was more stylish and small to pique visitors interest.

Después de haber probado dos PLCs distintos sin éxito, me decanté por probar un dispositivo de Wifi Mesh o en Malla, que en lugar de transmitir la señal por la vía eléctrica (como los Powerlines o PLC), éstos lo hacen directamente traspasando la señal wifi entre distintos módulos (en el caso del pack que adquirí, 3 módulos).Después de una sencilla instalación con su app móvil y en tan solo unos 5 minutos en total, establecí la conexión entre los 3 módulos y amplié fácil y cómodamente la cobertura Wifi en mi casa. El último módulo lo probé en dos ubicaciones distintas y lo ubiqué allí donde más señas cogía, pues no hay problema en que los desenchufes y enchufes de nuevo para averiguar la mejor posición donde el LED que equipa cada módulo se ponga verde 💚 (máxima señal).Mi caso, es una casa de 4 pisos pequeños, donde tengo el router en la parte superior y necesitaba conexión 3 plantas más abajo. Pues coloqué el módulo principal (los 3 son iguales, realmente) con el propio router, otro módulo en el 2o piso y el último, en el 3r piso. Ich habe mir das Tenda-Mesh System gekauft um bei mir ein zweistöckiges Haus inkl. Keller und 600m2 Garten komplett durchgehend mit WLAN auszuleuchten. Hintergrund war, dass ich einige "tote Ecken" im Obergeschoss und Garten hatte und zu meinen Smarthome-Geräten immer eine stabile Verbindung halten wollte.Also ab in den Keller, Basisstation in den Netzwerkschrank, WLAN der Fritzbox ausschalten und die Satelliten möglichst gleichmäßig im Haus verteilen.Als ich dann Haus und Grundstück ablief war ich begeistert. Komplette 3 Balken WLAN Empfang bis ins hinterste Eck des Gartens. Chapeau an die Firma Tenda.Nachteile des Systems:Die Möglichkeiten zu Netzwerkeinstellungen sind sehr schmal gehalten was bei mir dann letztlich auch das KO-Kriterium war. Da ich mit statischen IP-Adressen für die Smarthome Geräte arbeiten muss blieb mir nichts anderes übrig als den Bridgemodus zu nutzen und die Adressvergabe weiter von der Fritzbox vornehmen zu lassen. Im Bridgemodus habe ich dann wiederum keine Möglichkeit mehr ein Gästenetzwerk einzurichten, was für mich letztlich dann auch zur Rückgabe führte.Es sei auch noch zu erwähnen, dass die Tendageräte wenn man sie in einem anderen Modus betreibt ein eigenes Netz aufbauen, dass heißt alles was vor den Geräten am Router hängt hat ohne weitere Einstellungen im Router keinen Zugriff mehr auf die WLAN-Geräte. Kann man zwar recht schnell mit einem Eintrag im Router lösen oder man klemmt LAN-Geräte direkt an die Bridgeports der Novas.Fazit:Für einfache Installationen ohne Smarthome und statische IP-Adressen sicherlich ein sehr gutes System mit einer bombastischen Reichweite. Wer einfach nur seine WLAN Reichweite vergrößern will wird mit dem System sehr glücklich sein.Wer etwas mehr Einstellmöglichkeiten und Funktionen benötigt sollte sich andere Produkte ansehen. Ich habe mich letztlich für den UAP-AC-Lite von der Firma Ubiquiti entschieden und diese Entscheidung nicht bereut.Und bitte lasst euch nicht vom Begriff MESH catchen. Mesh ist kein einheitlich genormter Standard und wird bei jedem Hersteller etwas anders ausgelegt. Ganz einfach ausgedrückt geht es hierbei nur um einen Verbund aus mehreren WLAN-Zugangspunkten die untereinander kommunizieren und damit immer den kürzesten Weg im Netz finden - dies können mittlerweile viele Hersteller per Software/Firmware.

Das Produkt wird in einer ansprechenden Verpackung geliefert und vermittelt einen hochwertigen Eindruck. Die Installation verlief anfangs reibungslos. Erst nachdem ich in der APP die Interneteinstellung "Brücke" gewählt hatte, gings los. Das gesamte System stürzte ab und ich konnte nicht mal mehr über das Web-Interface auf mein LTE-Modem (Huawei 525s) zugreifen. Erst nach einem Reset des Huawei und Trennen der Würfel vom Stromnetz konnte ich nach mühevoller Neuinstallation (einige Geräte mit fester IP und offenen Ports) wieder auf mein Netz zugreifen. (WLan vom LTE-Router deaktiviert). Der Empfang hat sich im Vergleich zur Lösung mit dem Repeater extrem verbessert. Ich hatte beinahe vollen Empfang im Keller und sogar in der Gartenhütte. Bin anschließend weggefahren, um den Zugriff auf meine Haussteuerung und die Kameras von außen zu testen. Ich war begeistert - hat perfekt funktioniert. Die Kamerabilder öffneten sich blitzartig.Ernüchterung am nächsten Morgen. Nichts ging mehr. Wieder hatte sich das gesamte System, vermutlich durch einen automatischen Neustart eines der Geräte, aufgehangen.....Reset des Modem etc. - das ganze Spiel von vorne. Ca. 3,5 Stunden lang danach wieder einwandfreie Funktion mit wieder plötzlichem Absturz......Anscheinend ist Tenda Nova MW6 in der Brückenfunktion nicht mit dem Huawei B525s kompatibel. Ich werde, weil die Sendeleistung der Würfel wirklich toll ist, noch ein paar Tage probieren aber ich fürchte, ich werde sie zurücksenden müssen und mich endgültig mit der Repeater-Lösung abfinden müssen.07.08.2018:Nachdem ich beim LTE-Modem und bei Tenda die Auto-Update und Neustart-Funktionen deaktiviert hatte, lief das System bis heute perfekt. Nun plötzlich kein Zugriff auf die iP-Kameras mehr möglich. Nicht einmal im eigenen WLan-Netz mit den lokalen Adressen. Einstellungen unverändert......scheint alles ein wenig instabil zu funktionieren.09/2018Mit aktueller Firmware läuft jetzt alles stabil. Geräte mit fester IP werden in der Geräteliste nicht angezeigt-nur ein Schönheitsfehler.

Had high hopes for these little boxes as my Virginmedia Superhub 3.0 is rubbish for wifi coverage in my 4 bed detached house, so got everything connected and thought great full signal in my study whereas I only get 1 bar normally, so off I went with speedtest.net in hand for some crazy wifi speeds!!! woot woot!Oh wait....BeforeLiving room = over 200mbitStudy = 60mbitMain bedroom = 150mbitAfterLiving room = 75mbitStudy = 40mbitMain bedroom = 40mbitThought ah ok it's just the wifi channel lets change it, oh you cannot change it, hmm lets change the positions of them around the house, still no difference, decided to put them back in the box and send them back to amazon.I would not say my house is very large and these boxes DID give excellent signal strength throughout the house but the wifi performance is VERY poor for me.

Gestern in einer Stunde in Betrieb genommen. Vorher hatte ich nur eine einzelne Fritzbox + Repeater. Ewig gab es Probleme beim Umschalten zwischen beiden Netzen. Meist müsste man das WLAN am iPhone neu aus und wieder an machen. WLAN läuft jetzt super. Tenda vereinheitlicht sogar die beiden 2,4 und 5 GHz Netze. Ich sehe nur noch ein WLAN.Diese Rezension schreibe ich gerade von der Hollywood Schaukel im Garten, die 30m vom Haus entfernt ist. Sehr cool.Geschwindigkeit ist wie gehabt gut.Was man beachten sollte ist, das Man unter Umständen Funktionen verliert. Die Tenda kann Features wie Gast-WLAN nur umsetzen, wenn sie selbst DHCP Server sein kann. Da diese Rolle bei mir aber der Fritzbox vorbehalten bleiben soll, damit zB die Fritz Fon app weiter verwendet werden kann, ist dies hier nicht möglich.Die Konfigurationsmöglichkeiten beschränken sich im wesentlichen auf die Vergabe der Namen von WLAN und Devices. Wer mehr braucht ist hier ev nicht richtig.Die Tenda Geräte können mit Tenda Account auch Remote gemanagt werden. Aber wer will sein WLAN Management schon über China laufen lassen 😇. Sonst Empfehlung!Update: Ich betreibe eine CUJO Firewall zwischen Fritzbox und Heimnetzwerk. Wie ich feststellen musste werden die Tenda- Komponenten so stark angegriffen wie ich es bisher noch nie bei anderen Geräten hatte. Innerhalb einer halben Stunde hatte ich geblockte Aktivitäten von Angreifern aus USA, Russland und China. Also Obacht beim Einsatz. Die scheinen sich gut hacken zu lassen.
