Audio-Technica ATH-M60X Wired On Ear DJ Headphones Without Mic (Black)

Dear guys, the reason why I bought this headphone is because I watched 'Zeos', Z Reviews on youtube, at first I wrote a positive review, because, I got into the hype train, but now after almost 1 year of using it, I am giving my honest review. at point blank I can say, it is not a great headphone at all, the mid-range & Vocals are thin & dry lacks texture and definition...the over all resolution is also lacking. Although it has great detail retrieval capability, (even faintest instruments will be audible )but, it lacks Timbre, Texture & natural sound and but however it has wide sound-stage for a closed back headphone. When it was launched I bought it for 12k but now it is sold at 20k i believe as the hype increased, so also the price ;-) whatever. The equipment that I use are, IFi Micro Black Label Amp/Dac, I also used it with Fiio M9 DAP and Topping E30/E50s Dac with THX 789 Amp (Drop). Comparing ATH-M60X to Sennheiser HD 58X, Sennheiser HD650/HD6xx, Hifman Sundara, Hifman, HE400i,Moondrop Kanspro (IEM)... this Audio-Technica ATH-M60X lacks resolution, Timbre & Texture and sounds so artificial. So my final thoughts.. for the price of 20k I suggest you buy Hifman HE400i its cheaper & it sounds awesome, natural, resolution, depth, sound-stage will blow you away and you will never ever regret it.

I am a new comer to the Audio Technica line of pro monitor headphones, having preferred Sennheiser's portable and home audio audiophile quality headphones (HD 598/599 and HD 650/660s) to all other brands.And then one day I watched Zeos Pantera's YT review where he praised this headphone and, wait for the surprise, the comparatively budget oriented M40x model (review coming up for that and other models too!My curiosity got the better of me and I bought this during the Dassera sale and trust me I haven't heard better on ear headphones than this one. Z reviews is right. It's smooth sounding, comfortable to wear (I have medium to large ears) and is well constructed. I believe in concise reviews so here's my take on the different aspects of this headphone:Comfort - 4 stars for an on ear. Those memory foam ear cups are awesomeSound - 5 Stars. Smooth, with great mids (vocals are excellent), these headphones need time to open up, they will reward you thereafter. Don't judge them by how they sound the first time you use them. These are monitors are have a comparatively flat FR albeit slightly V shaped compared to audiophile oriented cans like the Sennheiser 598/599, 650 and 660s. But trust me an audiophile could live with them and their revealing albeit not so bright sound that doesn't feel like pin pricks in your ears.Construction - 4 stars, part metal and but mostly plastic constructionValue for money - 3.5 Stars, there are better sounding cans there for the price but once again, these are studio monitors and A-T makes some of the most popular ones along with Sennheiser's pro audio range and Beyerdynamic's DT880/990 monitors, not to forget the redoubtable DT 1990 and 1770. I have my eyes on the DT 1990, possibly the holy grail of studio monitors.EDIT - After a few weeks of use I give these headphones a nice 5 Star. A-T has given me a few pleasant surprises this year!

I will be honest, i absolutely love Audio TEchnica products. Why you ask ? Well just check their track record and judge for yourself. Before i purchased these i already own the M-40x, M-50x and the MSR7. however i think this along with the MSR7 sound absolutely amazing. UNlike others this one is on-ear design. In terms of sound quality it ticks all the check boxes. It produces great low end, not over-powering or ear rattling but just the right amount. EDM lovers, especially the ones who prefer vocal trance will absolutely love this. THe mids sound and highs might sound a little rolled off. Other that this i cant really see a weakness with this pair of headphones. I highly recommend this product.

The sound is absolutely natural, no boosts to bass or treble.One can differentiate between highs and lows at low volume also.One con about the product is that the cups are fixed, they cannot be swirled at 90°. Hence, inconvenient to hang it around neck.

They are the best headphones I have used in this price bracket. Sound is truly amazing.

These are my favourite headphones. They sound wonderful. Punchy bass, lovely mids and highs and the detail is really really good. As others have said they have a magic about them I have never heard before. Very very comfortable. They don’t fold but I’m keeping them for home use. I use theme with my iPhone and Oppo HA2SE. If they sounded like this through Bluetooth that would be amazing.

There must have been something wrong with the ones I bought. No bass. No real top end, just upper middle. I sent them back and had no trouble getting a refund. So at least the vendor came up with the goods :)

As I sit here getting ready to review these M60x. I am reminded how disappointed I have been in the MX0x line. Only the M40x get my approval and by such a large margin it is hard to believe how poorly the 30,50 and 70 were. Well It must be all about the even numbers because THESE.. So natural sounding. So spacious. Not the greatest design for portable use (doesn't fold in any way) and it lacks a hard case for the cost. On ear but the perfect amount of clamp and the pads feel fantastic. The imaging is stellar. The clarity, the low end. These are my new favorite SOUNDING closed portable. Over the 1more Triple and B&O H6. These things rock. FFF

Dieser Winzling ist ein wirklich toller Allroundkopfhörer. Für jemanden der nur einen Kopfhörer für alles nutzen möchte ist das die richtige Wahl, wenn man mit On-Ear klar kommt. Für Brillenträger wird das schwierig, bei meiner Brille musste ich nach 30 - 60 Minuten den Kopfhörer absetzen. Es ist auch ein Typ On-Ear der abschließend auf dem Ohr aufliegen muss. Es gibt On-Ears die kann man runter ziehen, so dass sie eher auf der Unterkante als auf dem gesamten Ohr aufliegen. Hat man mit dem On-Ear-Prinzip kein Grundsätzliches Problem erhält man einen sehr komfortablen, leichten, gut sitzenden On-Ear. Ich musste ihn eigentlich nie nachjustieren. Hat man schon ein paar tolle Kopfhörer und such nach einem Kopfhörer der einen in einem bestimmten Einsatzgebiet noch mal so richtig verzaubert, ist es wohl nicht dieser. Wobei für Filme und Serien eventuell.Klangeigenschaften:Trotz kleiner Ohrhörer schafft dieses Gerät einen kräftigen Bass und einen erstaunlich guten Raumeindruck (Imaging). Ich denke die Bass-Eigenschaften haben damit zu tun das der Treiber außergewöhnlich viel Weg macht wodurch auch die kleine Fläche einiges an Druck erzeugen kann. Es mag daran liegen dass ich den Eindruck hatte, dass dieser Kopfhörer eine hohe "Burn-in" Zeit benötigt. Ich kann nur empfehlen dem Kopfhörer möglichst viel Einspielzeit zu geben bevor man sein finales Urteil fällt. Der Kopfhörer isoliert gut, klingt aber überhaupt nicht blechern oder dumpf dadurch. Die Höhen sind relativ präsent aber ohne anstrengend oder störend zu sein. Das könnte daran liegen, dass durch die geschlossene Bauweise keine Details verloren oder durch Außengeräusche gestört werden. Der Bass könnte für Musik etwas knackiger bzw. trockener sein ist aber keinesfalls matschig. Insgesamt hat mir der Hörer über verschiedene Musik-Genre hinweg Spaß gemacht.Warum ist der Kopfhörer toll:Was mich besonders beeindruckt hat ist wie gut der Kopfhörer verschiedenste Einsatzzwecke abdeckt. Zuhause Musik genießen an einem Kopfhörer-Verstärker macht Spaß mit ihm, für Unterwegs (ohne Brille) ist er durch seine leichte und robuste Bauweise, gute Isolierung und effiziente Wiedergabe gut geeignet(Es ist nicht unbedingt der effizienteste Treiber, aber durch die geschlossene Bauweise und gute Isolierung kann er auch am Smartphone laut sein). Für Youtube, Serien, Filme hat er mir besonders gut gefallen, der druckvolle Bass ist hier genau richtig und die Räumlichkeit die der Kopfhörer vermitteln kann trägt zur Atmosphäre bei. Wirklich überrascht hat er mich bei Videospielen. Die Ortung der Klänge war so gut, dass ich direkt den Philips SHP9500 vom Regal genommen habe um die Ortungs-Performance zu vergleichen. Mit dem M60X kriegt man sogar einen gewissen Eindruck ob die Geräusche über oder unter einem entstehen. Ich war wirklich verblüfft. Sowohl fürs kompetitive Gaming als auch fürs entspanntes Spielen ist er oberstes Stereo-Niveau. In Games ist er präzise und imposant, ich musste oft an einen geschlossenen Beyerdynamic denken, wobei weder der DT 1770 PRO noch der MMX300 mir zu jeder Zeit eine so genaue Ortung wie der M60X vermittelt haben. Möchte man einen Kopfhörer für alle Einsatzgebiete, ist der ATH-M60X kaum zu schlagen. Ich habe sogar ein Bluetooth-Modul für dieses dämliche 2,5 mm Audio-Technica Buchse auf azon gesehen, so dass man ihn kabellos betrieben könnte.Warum nur 4 Sterne?!Es liegt nicht am On-Ear-Design. Das ist innerhalb seiner Möglichkeiten hervorragend. Eine Dummheit die ich Audio-Technica aber nicht verzeihen kann ist die unnötige 2,5 mm Buchse und der ganz spezielle super dünne Audio-Technica Stecker denn man ganz tief rein stecken muss. Höflich ausgedrückt können die sich den auch irgendwo ganz tief rein stecken. Eine Standard 3,5 mm Buchse hätte keinerlei Nachteile aber den Vorteil, dass man Problemlos andere Kabel anschließen kann, Kabel mit Mikrofon und verschiedene Bluetooth-Module. Aber nein, Audio-Technica muss etwas ganz besonderes sein. Wenn man so etwas abzieht, dann muss das mitgelieferte Kabel aber Weltklasse sein, und das ist es nicht. Es ist von der Haptik okay und wird immerhin in einem kleinen Rund statt in eine 8 verpackt, aber das führt leider dazu dass dieses Kabel eine Spiral-Form annimmt wenn man es auseinander zieht. Es federt sehr stark und liegt nicht flach auf dem Tisch, es nervt. Ein Kopfhörer der eigentlich ideal geeignet wäre um ihn im Wechsel am Laptop, Smartphone, Gaming-Pc, Anlage, Radio, Fernseher, Auto, Bluetooth-Modul, Flugzeug, Yacht, Morsegerät, EKG, Waschmaschine, ... anzuschließen kommt leider mit einer proprietären Buchse die keine Vorteil bietet.

La cuffia Audio-Technica TH-M60X è destinata ad un utilizzo professionale, che sia in studio o in esterno, magari per tecnici o giornalisti che operano outdoor.Ecco le mie impressioni.Costruzione: robusta, di fattura professionale, piacevole a vedersi (con la parte terminale dell'archetto in metallo che le dona un'aria pro), ma la presenza esterna dei due cavi audio la rende un po' delicata, secondo me. I cuscinetti sono in ecopelle di ottima qualità e piacevoli al tatto.Comfort: la cuffia è piuttosto comoda, direi sicuramente sopra la media. E' leggera (circa 200 grammi) e non chiude troppo forte intorno alla testa, difetto riscontrato in parecchie concorrenti. E' una cuffia di dimensioni abbastanza ridotte, avendo i padiglioni che poggiano sulle orecchie e non circondandole completamente, ma senza provocare alcun fastidio. Consente un uso abbastanza prolungato prima di provocare fastidio.Suono: come tutte le cuffie va messa in rodaggio (riproduzione continua musicale) prima di provarla veramente per almeno 20 ore, come consigliato da molti. Personalmente mi ci è voluto un po' di tempo ad abituarmi al suono diverso che emettono le cuffie destinate ad uso professionale tipo mixaggio o altro: il suono restituito è un po' più duro, più grintoso rispetto a quello delle cuffie HI-FI che avevo ascoltato finora. Il caso classico è il suono dei piatti della batteria, che negli HI-FI viene riprodotto gradevole e patinato, mentre dal vero è un rumore molto tagliente e certamente meno piacevole, ma se vogliamo riprodurre le sensazioni della musica dal vivo è questa la strada giusta.Collegando la cuffia ad uno smartphone si ha un' ulteriore sorpresa positiva: nonostante la bassa uscita della sorgente la cuffia suona perfettamente e con un buon volume, come se ci fosse un preamplificatore. Il segnale, per quanto basso, della sorgente è più che sufficiente a dare spinta e piena consistenza al suono.La sonorità è abbastanza ricca di dettagli, con una leggera predilezione per i toni medio-alti. Vengono restituiti anche i bassi, non prepotenti ma molto precisi, mantenendosi privi di distorsione anche ad un volume elevato. Rivela il suo carattere di cuffia monitor, che non cerca la piacevolezza del suono ma la percezione del suono reale e questo scopo viene raggiunto. Va bene per distinguere le singole sonorità anche nei brani in cui sono presenti molteplici strumenti e tenderebbero ad accavallarsi: la M60X evita che s'impastino i suoni e permette di distinguere anche i dettagli in secondo piano. Unica pecca, per cui ho dato 4 stelle e non 5, è quella durezza nel suono che ho citato prima, ma probabilmente è la caratteristica delle cuffie monitor. Qualunque sorgente si voglia utilizzare, la M60X funziona con una certa grinta anche in presenza di segnali deboli e, nel caso si disponga di un segnale potente, tollera il segnale ad alto volume che le viene fornito. Da questo lato è molto versatile, può essere utilizzata in tutte le situazioni.Dotazione: la confezione comprende una pratica custodia in finta pelle ma di buona qualità, 3 cavi staccabili (da 1,2 mt dritto, da 3 mt coiled e da 3 mt dritto), un adattatore per il jack da 3,5 mm a 6,3 mm.Personalmente la consiglio a chiunque voglia una cuffia di buon livello, non eccessivamente ingombrante e che possa fornire il suono correttamente anche se collegata a smartphone e tablet.
