GREAT SLATE
This slate does it's job, I love it. It's professional and sturdy. Screws can get lost, so always be mindful but I haven't used a slate where someone hasn't lost one. It's a bit pricey but this is probably the best slate you can get on amazon so it's worth it. All slates are about this price.

Good Quality for beginners or budget concious ppl
Good quality slate for begineers or budget concious people... Slate works great, and is very workable. While i prefer digital. Sometimes clocks go bad, and too expensive... i prefer to write in my icd, anyway... /A great deal for begineer!

Well made and proper features
Unlike a lot of the other ones you often see on Amazon, this is a quality, yet affordable slate. Don't try to save the few dollar difference, you'll be disappointed with the other cheap ones. The quality of this one is usually going to run $50-70 elsewhere. The markings are actually engraved so they won't wipe off over time. Dry erase wipes off nice and clean, even if it's been left on there for a few weeks. The sticks are real wood and have a nice solid, satisfying clap. Don't get the ones that are junky plastic, they sound like garbage. The Elvid logo on the back shows through a bit and I found it annoying, especially with any amount of backlight. But thankfully it wipes right off super easily with just a dab of nail polish remover. Didn't even need to scrub. I highly recommend checking out the article series on slating by Evan Luzi over at The Black and Blue.

Great quality, really durable. Super pleased.
Excellent quality slate. Used on a couple productions now after buying a cheap one off Amazon. I'm extremely impressed with the build quality. I thought it was expensive at first, until I started using it. It's absolutely worth the price.

Huge step up from cheaper option
I've previously purchased the cheaper slate options available, and while they lasted me a while with some maintenance and modifications, they were fragile and cheaply made. This product is great, with a thick clapper at the top and nice etchings on the surface. I added a wooden backing to mine knowing the plastic would be quick to crack, but am confident this thing will last me years with good care and love.

Worth the extra money
If you're actually looking for a functional production slate, don't waste your money on all the other crappy knockoffs available on Amazon - this one costs a little more, but it's absolutely worth it. The clapper is solid and the screws don't fall out after one day of use (the same can't be said of several other brands we tried prior to this Elvid), dry erase markers actually write AND erase from the board, which stays clean and clear and doesn't build up smudges and gunk. Definitely a worthwhile purchase.

Great Slate - film school must-have
This is a good, durable slate. The black lines and Text are inset so you can’t rub them off after a week of production. Best one I’ve gotten on a budget

The best "budget" slate I've used
EXPO Dry Erase markers wipe off with ease, custom labels and letter stickers work well. Sturdy build. Easy clean and can be back lit with the addition of a small LED panel or even your phone. We are using it as the main slate (we don't need fancy timecode) on our new feature film 'FRIDAY NIGHT FRIGHTS' and so far it's getting the job done. -- Only thing, we did as a precaution was to remove the nuts and put some LOCTITE or Krazy Glue on the threads before replacing to keep them in place.
