I loved this hair mask! It made my hair super soft, shiny, and easy to detangle. The smell is amazing and it feels very nourishing. After one use, my hair felt healthier and more hydrated. Definitely worth it for anyone with dry or frizzy hair. Highly recommend!

I’ve been struggling with my hair. Got very very sick in 2020, my mom basically suddenly drops dead in my arms, and my hair fell out. Illness, stress and grief had me half bald and the worst texture I’ve ever experienced. I’d also dyed my hair and it looked like utter trash. Scraggly frizz. I had to chop off multiple feet of my pride and joy. Fortunately I’ve gotten a good bit of my hair back, but it came back with a ton of grey, and grey hair has a totally different texture. I have thin, fine, curly hair. 3B to 3c depending on where on my head it’s growing from. The hair that’s grey is a bit thicker but I’ve struggled to find a product that does anything that doesn’t weigh it down and make it look greasy. But my hair is bone dry. I’ve gone through so many products and some helped a bit but nothing made a huge change. I bought this on impulse when I was looking at the briogio mask bc I liked their rossaco milk leave in, & wasn’t sure how I’d like this hair mask. I worried it’d be to heavy. It’s not. My hair after one use was so much softer & healthier looking, and feeling. I don’t normally wash or condition the bottom of my hair. Something is stumbled upon years ago that worked for my drier curly hair. But once a week I use a conditioning shampoo (the Jason 2 in 1 dandruff shampoo, no itchy scalp and the most hydrating shampoo I’ve ever used), on just my scalp down to my nape. Then I rinse through the rest of my hair, put on this mask, brush it through, & put a plastic cap on my head. Then let it sit 30min to 1hr before rinsing. My hair feels so lovely now. Yes the scent is strong and I’m sensitive to fragrance (I get headaches easily from almost all fragrance), and you can still catch a wiff of the fragrance after it’s rinsed out. But as it dries it fades a bit and it just smells nice. I’m sold. This mask is holy grail now. My niece whose been struggling after bleaching her hair and using expensive Oleplex without much change, I’m going have her use this mask when she comes over to get help dying her hair pink again.

For context I have thick, long hair, down to about the middle of my butt. My hair was completely virgin and I decided to dye it. Worst decision ever. When my hair was virgin, after washing it I never dealt with tangles. Now every time I wash my hair it’s tangled in knots. Not only that but it’s become extremely dry looking and lost a lot of the healthy shine I took for granted. Obviously I know dying your hair is unhealthy, but I didn’t think that I would feel/see physical changes. I scoured YouTube, TikTok, Reddit, google, everything imaginable to find a product that would at least help with the issues that I’m having since I know this isn’t something that can just be repaired, I just have to let my hair grow out until the dye is off. I tried so many products, both highend and drug store brands and nothing, I mean NOTHING worked. I finally came across the amika soul food hair mask, and guys, I genuinely love, love, love this product! I followed the instructions and after shampooing my hair, I put the mask on, the only thing I did differently was that i left it longer than what the instructions said, while I shaved and washed my body etc. Almost immediately after rinsing it out I could feel a difference in my hair, even while wet. It felt softer and so hydrated, so much so, that I thought my hair was going to be oily once it dried. To my surprise my hair was not oily whatsoever! What was even more surprising was that once my hair dried, it had shine, it didn’t look or feel dry anymore, it genuinely looked healthy again! It gives my hair so much hydration and this is just after my very first use. This hair mask is magic in a bottle. I can’t recommend it enough. I’ve been experimenting with it and used it on my hair while dry, put it in a clip, and let it sit for an hour or two and omg the softness and shine. I truly love it. I also purchased their hydro leave in conditioner (blue bottle) and again I’m completely wowed by this product as well. It leaves my hair with no tangles and smells delicious. I’m pleasantly surprised by this brand and am so happy with my purchase. I highly recommend if you’re dealing with similar issues.

If I could give more than five stars, I absolutely would! This product made my 4C curls look bouncy, shiny, and super easy to detangle. The creamy texture is amazing, and my hair just soaked it right up. After just one use, my hair looked and felt healthier than ever. Yes, it’s on the pricey side, but trust me—it’s worth every penny for the results you’ll get!

This isn't as bad as K18 or Olaplex but it does my my hair fall out & case slightly itchy scalp so I give the product 4 stars. It smells really nice. Maybe citrusy? Slightly floral? Fresh? It does make my hair soft but so do the other 2 mentioned brands. I can't stand by something that makes my hair fall out & wonder what the ingredient is they're using that causes it. I've switched to Redkin all soft & that's made a huge world of difference but the search for "the best" hair products for any of us is slow & costly. I was using several products & thought the smaller bottle of this product was actually working to soften my damaged hair. It was but "Something" was casing hair fall. I decided to start using one new product at a time instead of cocktailing like I typically do. It was only after I bought the large tub of this that after 2 uses I realized this was definitely the culprit. Very disappointing because it does work. But for me, there was just unintended consequences for using the product. I felt like the product didn't leave my hair heavy or greasy which was really nice & I did feel like it make my hair softer & it felt more hydrated. The tub is super easy to get the product out of in that the lid screws on/off allowing the consumer to use their hands to scoop out their preferred amount. The product feel, as others have mentioned, very soft butter. It's incredibly thick & think it would likely outlast a turned upside down DaiiryQueen Blizzard in a standoff. I'll give it a solid 4 star rating because it does that it says. I just had a reaction that doesn't sound typical for most review here.

I have a love/hate relationship when it comes to amika products lol but i love this mask! It is very nourishing for my hair, it always makes my hair feel great every time i use it. It hydrates my hair nicely and makes it soft while helping it with shine which is nice since i typically have dull hair.

I have a LOT of hair. In the last couple years I’ve stopped coloring it but the ends of my hair are incredibly dry and porous. I’ve tried everything, all professional and drug store brands. That being said, this mask is absolutely amazing. I clarified my hair, then let it set on my hair while I did my everything shower. My hair feels absolutely amazing after one single use. It’s shiny, soft and feels so nourished. The price point is average. I did get the larger tub of it, and I’m glad I did. 100% will be recommending this to all of my friends and family. Definitely worth trying! The scent is fresh, maybe citrusy but not overpowering. It feels like butter on your hair. I could tell a difference even before my hair was dry!
