Decent testing unit for home to small network/phone room use. We have much better (ie more expensive) testers at work but those are thousands of dollars. Not that fair to compare this to those, but I did find this unit a bit quiet in tone which isn't an issue for troubleshooting the security, network and phone lines in our home. But in a loud data center/network hub the fans would easily drown out the tone.Simple enough to use, was able to track the connectivity issue I was having without having to bring a specialist with specialised equipment for a fraction of the troubleshooting travel fee. Made a new cable, tested the connectivity, re-ran it and called it good. And now have a new tool to keep in my toolbox . Great buy for someone with a small business network/phone system that doesn't have the budget for the more expensive testers. Great if you want to make your cables as well.

Added two 9V batteries and used this to trouble shoot very long in-wall ethernet cables. Leds that 'count up' work well.

Better quality than expected. Had only wanted the tone tester, but turns out my first use of the wire sequence tester identified an open connection that was easily fixed, so the multiple functions are definitely worth the small extra cost. Had no problem finding one CAT5E cable in a bundle of 10 or so.

For the money, you can't beat it. Comes in a case, has attachment cables, uses standard 9v batteries, portable, has a light. Sounds clear and is sensitive. I'm very happy with it. This is a great little unit for the money.

The receive unit is fine, but the transmit unit does not produce tone (for use in identifying cables). It seems to be DOA (at least for that function - the most important one to me). However, the cable wiring test does work, so I know the unit otherwise has a functioning battery.The instructions are poorly written and, although I should have looked more closely before purchasing, most of the reviews seem fake based on how they're written. I'll be seeking a refund with Amazon.

Have to have a really good hearing when you want to find a specific wire in a bunch of wires. I guess it will work on simple telephone wire locating. The on turn button on the receiver was broken, had to push down and hold to make it work.

Either I got a bad one or this is junk. The probe didn't work and overheated the battery. It does not work! I have this 1 star but I can't submit my review without giving it a star rating. It's too late to send it back so I guess ii just wasted my money.

Worked fine with Ethernet cable testing. The instructions are worded oddly and don't really give enough information to use all the functions

I got this for testing Ethernet cables for work. I have not used it much, only about 3 or 4 times since I got it. What I found on the first use is that if you left the battery in the receiver, even though it is turned off, it kills the battery anyway. So I had to borrow a battery just to do my job. I got a new set of batteries, left it in again, thinking the first time might have been a bad battery or somehow it got left on, or the led was on, and the same thing happened. Now I have to disconnect the battery after each use.The second thing that has happened is led 1 in the transmitter has stopped working. When I run a test and it is cycling through each wire, #1 no longer lights up. It does fortunately in the receiver so I know that it is at least working still.For now it does the job, but if something else happens, I might have to replace it with a better unit.

I was pleasantly surprised to see how easy is to "ring" any type of cable with this tester. You can test RG6 cables, network cables, any type of cable actually. You hook up the crocodile to outer shield or any wire and that's it. Happy with the results.

I purchased this because i had some dead plugs in my house and it worked amazing. I found the wires with ease and had no issues getting this to do what i needed. Easy to set up, easy to use great little piece of equipment. Took me 15 min to find 3 dead plugs wire locations tracing throughout the house.

This product make my work much more easier than a divorce.Very good product like it.

I use this product in a business IT environment with no issues. Works great! My only issue is that it doesn't have a headphone jack for silent tracing. Great value for the price!
