Pretty good e-Reader slightly disappointed
Over all the Onyx Boox Euclid is a decent e-reader but some things are a bit sluggish. The light is blue only no warm adjustment, and not as bright as I would like. It is slightly brighter at the very bottom but relatively even through the rest of the screen. The Interface can be slightly confusing. There are no detailed reviews on its features so I purchased on faith, expecting it to be a smaller version of the Boox Note. It is not. Moving through PDF’s are pretty quick, text files work great and have lots of font adjustments. Built in dictionary is neat but I am not ready to learn Russian yet, maybe one day but I am still working on Spanish right now. So you will need to download an open format dictionary of your choice if Russian is not your thingIT looks like the software is similar to the note with lots of things taken out of the menu. It has no reflow, no resizing for PDF Fonts only zoom and crop. Zoom only has screen square visible rest is blank until you release finger. Lots of blink refresh during movement and after. It has adjustable refresh, the default never did not work for me I seen a lot of ghosting in blank space. You can select text in PDF and other formats for copy/highlight/annotation (typed)/dictionary.Pretty clear text, although not as easy to read as kindle with default setting, it seems slightly washed out. I turned on bold makes it a little funky fat but better readability. Contrast and the other setting just seemed to make it harder to read. The A2 setting seems to just make all letters into connect the dots, similar to a really old dot matrix printer that is running out of ink. I don’t see myself ever reading that too hard on the eyes. Your notes are all typed, or long selected with your finger no stylus support that I can see, no side by side notes. As this is a pressure screen a stylus is mostly useless unless you don’t want to get fried chicken grease from your fingers on it and poke it with the stylus.Google play did not initially work “not certified message.” You can get a id app, side load it with computer. There is a popular e-reading site that does a lot of reviews with instructions. Enter the GSF code into a google registration page and then the app store will work. It DOES NOT come with kindle app installed. You can download from store but man is it SLOW to open!!! I would much more prefer the scaled down version I have read about on other devices. FYI it seems most android E-inks have this same issue with play store right now.Mine came with a nice magnetic (auto-off) brown leather like case, although there was no mention of it. So I don’t need the one a bought separately. Over all pretty good size for reading Technical PDFs although some pdf’s are a little small, half of me wishes for note, the other half is happy this was $200 less. It seems to have speaker ports on the back but I do not see volume adjustments anywhere nor do I hear sound when video is played. It has blue tooth although I have not tried that yet. Web browser does work, slow but this is an e-reader not a tablet, not a note taking device.April 2020-After Firmware update, the latest android 6 and firmware update improves many of the bugs in the device, it still feels slight sluggish compared to kindle but not terrible, however The Google Service Framework is no longer recognized so google play and services can not be manually registered or update apps anymore, like they show on some web sites. even after you re-enable play and services they system says that the GSF is missing. You will have to side load anything from play store, or write it yourself. android studio 3.5.3 and up on Mint Linux(not tested older versions) will readily debug an app on the device if you make your own apps. just ensure you pick <= marshmallow SDK minimum. Battery seems to last a very long time.

Excellent reader
I bought the Euclid for one purpose only - reading, mostly novels. I have no interest in taking notes. For this, the Euclid is excellent. The 10" display is just right without being too heavy and the front-light works well and evenly with minimal edge-glow.When I first bought it, the firmware version was pretty sketchy - it was dated 4Q18. I downloaded and updated it to an April 2019 version and the difference is night and day. It is now as good as the Kobos that I have used for years, and is more customizable, without having to hack it at all. There are three levels of detail you can set for UI customization, and at the Expert level you can control almost everything about how it works and displays. The only single thing I miss from my Kobo Forma is having the current book show as standby screen.
