Which screws are needed, M3 4.5mm or M3 6mm? Or doesn't it matter?

To avoid damaging the inner shell of the drive, I advise using the 4.5mm screws. I hope that helps x

Only 1TB and 500GB versions use CMR rest is SMR

Is the hdd loud when gaming?

No its not loud but does have a sound when loading etc it's a very manageable noise

Does any know if this drive is suitable for dell's 8940 desktop with a m.2 pcie nvme primary solid state drive

As long as there is an available SATA port on the motherboard, yes. You should always have a large capacity backup/storage drive.
