An honest review for people that actually USE their weapon lights for a living
I did a ton of research before spending a large amount of my hard earned money on a weapon light that my life (as well as the lives of others) may depend on. I’m not a weekend warrior that buys/uses the latest and greatest just because some video game or “tacticool trend” said that this is the weapon light to have. I actually use my equipment, sometimes very hard, on nearly a daily basis. Sure, other brands may be cheaper with close to the same lumen output, but I’ll get to why I went with this light. With that said, let’s get to my thoughts on the X300 Ultra. The packaging is...well...it’s packaging. I really could care less how it’s packaged, as long as it isn’t damaged and it doesn’t take a torch to get into. I bought this package deal (to include additional Surefire batteries) along with a Safariland 6360 holster, so the items were shipped together in a larger box. The weapon light packaging itself wasn’t damaged and was easy to get into. This particular seller/package includes Surefire brand batteries with the weapon light in a package deal. Since I will be actually using the weapon light regularly, I found this to be the best way to go since I don’t want the hassle of buying batteries for awhile. While the weapon light packaging was new without damage, I can’t say the same for the little plastic cases the additional batteries came in (see picture). It looked like someone literally stepped on the cases with the batteries inside and threw them in the box to be shipped to me. I wouldn’t usually care, but I was depending on these little plastic cases to hold the Surefire batteries together so I can keep them in my glove box, go bag or wherever. While not a deal breaker, it did annoy me- hence the four star review. Otherwise, everything else was good.THE WEAPON LIGHT IS A LEGITIMATE AUTHENTIC SUREFIRE WEAPON LIGHT (the best I can tell anyway). I read plenty of horror stories about fakes, and I’m the type that likes to physically verify authenticity before dropping this amount of money. I’m not going to lie, I was apprehensive about spending this much money on an unseen light online. After opening the Surefire packaging, I immediately checked the exterior markings and assembly of the light itself BEFORE mounting it. Genuine Surefire X300 Ultra lights will have the digital box and “FC” markings on the top where the light mounts to the rail, which this light had (see picture). The battery lid/switch assembly also had the appropriate “spacer” and was firmly attached when closed- another sign of a genuine item (see picture). Next, I popped open the battery lid/switch assembly and verified that the circuit board was labeled “SUREFIRE” (see picture), which is another indicator of a genuine product. Surefire batteries were then installed and I slid it onto my well-used Glock 23.Fitment was excellent and the light assembly had no play AT ALL WHATSOEVER. Fitment is so precise, that it’s actually a slight task to install it. Once attached, I checked the operation of the switch- which worked as expected without issue. My fingers are long, so the strong hand/weak hand and appropriate grip distances to the ambidextrous switch were checked and found to be short; with the activation switch being very easy for me to use very quickly. I’m right handed with a slightly damaged/fused left index finger, so removal was more difficult than I expected, but I’m not as concerned about that as I am about it remaining secured to the weapon itself (which was excellent).Overall, it’s an outstanding and very secure weapon light with good light output. I debated on purchasing a Streamlight TLR weapon light for the simple reason that their light output is good and the price is cheaper than the Surefire X300 Ultra. Here’s why I didn’t buy anything but Surefire: I HAVE SEEN STREAMLIGHT WEAPON LIGHTS (AND OTHERS) COMPLETELY FAIL WHEN NEEDED. If I was using a weapon light to illuminate the alley behind my house once a year and scare off the stray cats, or to try to impress friends with the whole “tacticool toys” attitude, or if I was using it to light up the workbench as I fix something when carrying concealed, then yes I would’ve gone with another light. The fact is, I needed a light that WILL FUNCTION in almost any situation at any time and have outstanding durability THAT I MAY HAVE TO BET MY LIFE OR SOMEONE ELSE’S LIFE ON...plain and simple. Having seen other lights fail in life or death situations will make you believe in the importance of a quality weapon light; and Surefire is the way to go.

Solid Light
Setup is is Glock 17 Gen 5 MOS with a Trijicon RMO6 and Trijicon suppressor height tritium sights and the new Surefire X300U. The lights battery lasts a few weeks at most using it only at the range and dry fire training at hone. The RMR battery last 5 years so I may be a bit spoiled on battery life. It’s fits securely with no shaking or retention issues. The light has a really nice wide swath and a great bright spot in the middle. At 20 feet I can clearly see what I’m shooting at even at the indoor range with the bay lights off. Saw some people saying it was fitting loosely on there particular firearm but I personally haven’t had this issue. I do have to say, the metal is a bit soft for my liking, considering I can rack off of my RMR on a brick wall and it doesn’t scratch the paint but droping the x300 on some blue stone gravel and it took a small chunk out of the aluminum.

Extremely bright and easy to install.
Mounted to my Shadow Systems MR920 in seconds. Light comes on blindingly bright and stays bright. Controls are very simple to operate. I've seen reviews saying that the spare battery cases were broken on delivery but I didn't have that problem.

Exactly what I ordered
I did my research before ordering and i test fitted on on my Glock 45 before ordering.Does it rattle ever so slightly- yes.Did I expect that from watching reviews -yesDid I take a couple small pieces of electrical tap and stack them in the batter cover- yesDoes it rattle now - no.I’m not going to complain or write a bad review about the shim it has or rattle because I knew it was there and knew how to fix it before ordering. If you don’t want it to rattle either put a couple pieces of tape on the back or buy the 300U-B and warp your lower.Adapt and overcome and move on. It’s an amazing light! Brighter than expected and simple to use!
