It measures what it claims, but could be more user friendly
I'm currently using this to measure the consumption of various appliances around the house. It accumulates the energy consumption pretty well. The numbers make sense. As others have noted, The instructions are not great - mainly because they are printed in an incredibly small font. I used a scanner to enlarge mine. Once you become used to the 4 operating buttons the set-up is OK. There are limitations on the cost inputs. There are only 2 decimal places, so using pounds per kWh is not that accurate and if you input the figure in pence then the totals soon run out of display digits. Similar restrictions affect the accuracy of estimating CO2 emissions. (Not really an issue though). Also the display is not easy to read unless there is good light and even then you need to view from an appropriate angle (i.e. low down). A backlight would have helped.I have run mine for a month so far and it seemed to be working well, but I then discovered that all the data had disappeared, even though it was plugged in and live. It seemed that this was down to failure of the supplied batteries. (New ones solved the problem.) So if the batteries fail while you're using it you'll lose your data.I still like it though, because it does what I want, even with these irritations.

Clearly visible power measurement
This meter works well (unlike the backlit one!), and the LCD display is easily visible in room lighting. It shows wattage quite well, and also measures power factor. It would be nice if it would try to calculate VA from that but we can't have everything. The display cycles voltage, power, current, frequency, power factor, max voltage, max power, max current, overload warning current, and back to voltage. When you're really interested in power consumption that's a bit tedious - a simultaneous display of power and power factor would be handy since those are the ones you care about. As something to check power consumption of appliances or electronic gear, it works fine.

The ideal monitor for checking multiple appliances
I bought this monitor to check a multitude of kitchen appliances. It gives a wide range of measurements, including voltage, current, power consumption and even power factor. Two different energy costs can be entered and stored, for those people with different day and night tariffs. The energy used and the cost is recorded. The big plus with this monitor is that the records can be erased, WITHOUT erasing the tariff(s), before connecting the next appliance to be tested. This is a big plus compared other monitors, which reset everything, necessitating re-entry of the tariffs for every reading, which is a pain in the nether regions.Just one word of caution, it is not back-lit, and so needs to be positioned in a suitable place for reading in-situ. However, it does have battery back-up, so readings are not lost if power is disconnected. And the batteries can be replaced, unlike many other monitors. Before I bought my monitor I contacted the seller to confirm the reset facility, and they could not have been more helpful.I recommend this monitor without hesitation.

Backlit display would be better
Great device to measure energy usage, especially once you've set your electricity costs. I like to leave it on showing the current wattage and total cost, which gives me a simple view on how much an appliance runs. I have it plugged in before my power extension, so give me an overall value. The display is quite dark, but you can just turn a light on or shine a torch if its in a place that's too dark to see the display.

Poor instructions and bad screen display
I was really looking forward to trying this out but I just cannot get my head around these instructions. To make matters worse the screen display on the smaller lettering which they have put with a black background makes it so difficult to read. Whilst you are tilting the unit at angles to try and read the screen the unit switches the display off after 10 seconds and you have to start the whole process again. An instruction booklet to use this pretty complex unit should not be restricted to one and a half sides of a badly printed A4 piece of paper. If only there were a tutorial video available then I would keep it. I have searched online but cannot find one that matches up with the function keys of this model. I cannot comment on how good or bad the performance is as I never got that far. So, I am going to return it and look on you tube and buy one that has a good instructional video.

Almost impossible to use
The display is so directional that you have to be right in front of it to read. The contrast is also so bad I had to then shine a torch at the display. This is useless when it's plugged in near the floor where most sockets are. You can't uplug it to read it in better light because all the readings are then lost. I've only given it 2 stars because the data it's probably recording is really useful, but if you can't read it then why?

Buy a backlit model
Lack of back light makes the device almost impossible to use. As for accuracy, I can only hope the readings are good

It works well
Yes this does what I have used it for but I have not used it to it’s full potential I’m sure it’s a good clear display
