As much as I've continually tried alternatives over the years, I have never been able to sufficiently replace this product...
I have tried many, many different types of cleansing and make-up removing creams, gels, liquids, foams and oils. Despite this, I have never come across anything as effective and gentle as Pond's Cold Cream... This stuff was invented in the late 1800s and probably was in every household by the early 1900s... I remember as a child my grandmother always had it on her dressing table... I've used it on and off for most of my life (currently late forties)... And yet, I am always looking for something better, the new-and-improved, a completely natural alternative or the latest innovation out there because it's in my nature... Look at the label and you'll see many ingredients that are less than ideal such as mineral oil, beeswax, carbomer, ceresin, acetyl alcohol, et cetera... Things that must surely clog pores or cause rashes and issues for my sensitive skin... And yet......somehow it doesn't. It does not cause me to break out or get rashy even when I use it every day... EVEN when I used it when I was a teenager. How is that possible? I have no Idea, but it's true. I've tried the "Burt's Bees" cold cream but besides the comparatively high price tag, the texture is too thick and waxy and leaves my skin feeling stripped and dry. The texture is also NOT conducive to removing eye make-up without much manual rubbing which is round on my eye lashes and delicate eye skin... I've tried the "Noxzema Deep Cleansing Cream Plus Moisturizer" but it burns my eyes so bad, I dread using it and I don't want cleaning my face to involve many steps and products, vis-a-vis a eye make-up remover before I cleanse my face with the Noxzema and rinse my face with water and on and on... Ponds doesn't require a running water rinse... So I keep coming back to this ridiculously simple, super cheap, easily found basic solution... When I get home from work I put up my hair or otherwise pull it back and put a huge doll of Ponds on my dry face with clean hands and rub it all over my face, neck and chest. It feels nice and removes every trace of make-up and grime including waterproof mascara and eyeliner with no effort. If it gets in my eyes as it often does, there is no irritation what-so-ever although if I'm wearing my contacts, it gets a little blurry... In the past I've just wiped it off with a dry soft cloth which works fine but recently found out a much better way is to use a warm damp cloth instead... Specifically I use, "Plush MojaFiber Microfiber Face Cloth: Ultra Dense 3 Pk - 12"x12" which I also bought on Amazon and LOVE! This little routine feels really nice, very relaxing... It leaves me skin so soft and so clean and moisturized but not greasy. Then, given my face tends to be on the dry side, I put on a moisturizer... If I wash my face again in the shower I take before I go to bed, well it feels like overkill and bothers my sensitive skin so I just wash the rest of me and go to bed. The nicest thing about this product is it's versatility... It functions as both make-up remover and cleanser and in a pinch, moisturizer as well with no break outs or irritation...although if your skin is oily or combination, using it as a moisturizer may feel greasy for you. When I go camping it's amazing as a one step product before I go to bed, no rinsing needed, just wipe it off with a dry cloth. When I travel internationally I take a tiny jar of Ponds which weighs virtually nothing and alittle goes a long way. Liquids are so heavy...

HG makeup remover, wonderfully moisturizing, but dislike the scent (get the unscented version!)
For context, I have normal skin that gets dehydrated easily and becomes oily when dehydrated. This is hands-down the best makeup remover I've ever used, and I wear a lot of heavy eye makeup. This cold cream removes the eye makeup quickly and effortlessly upon being rubbed in—and the best part is that it does NOT sting my eyes at all, which is a rare feat for most make-up removers that end up in my eyes. (Sometimes if too much of it gets in my eyes, my vision will get blurry, but it's easily flushed out with water / wet washcloth and has 0 long-term effects as far as I'm aware.) I also use this as a general face wash for the 1st step in a double-cleanse routine, to break down sunscreen (I wear both physical and chemical sunscreens depending on the day). I find it incredibly nourishing and hydrating on my skin, and I have rather dehydrated skin. It is the only cleanser I've ever used that doesn't dry me out AT ALL. I usually use this 2x a day, morning and night, and find that every time I finish using it, my skin is SOOO soft and plump and has that nice, cool mochi skin feel to it, which is so incredible! How I use it: I take a thick/generous dollop and rub it into my face, focusing on areas where I've applied makeup (mostly eyes). After rubbing it in for ~30 seconds, I take a wet washcloth and gently pat until I no longer feel oily residue. And voila! I'm ready for the 2nd step of the double-cleanse. Note that without a double-cleanse this cold cream does leave a very thin film, but it's never too oily or thick of a film—so on days that my skin is feeling particularly dehydrated, I actually skip the 2nd cleanse step because I like that very thin, protective film that this cold cream leaves me with. And then there's the totally unbeatable price—drugstore prices for what feels like high-end skin treatment (and I've used my fair share of premium products that didn't work half as well as this $5 tub). My skin has started to really glow in the last couple months of use, and I'm pretty sure I have this cold cream to thank as I've changed nothing else about my 5-step routine in the last year!!! My one gripe is the smell: it has this cloying "grandma" smell (think medicinal flowers) that gave me a headache the first 2 times of use, and I almost threw out the tub if not for the wonders it did for my skin and for makeup removal—and I'm so glad I stuck with it, as I've now gone nose blind to the smell. That said, there is a fragrance-free version of this same cold cream that I will buy in the future instead. Overall, so so happy that I've found my HG first-step cleanser that doubles as a highly effective makeup remover and eliminates the waste of makeup remover pads and the need for so much tugging of the skin around my eyes!!

Great time honored product
Love this product for my sensitive redhead skin. I use nightly as my cleanser/gentle makeup remover. Removes EVERYTHING with no pulling or aggressive cleansing. 2 minutes of rubbing all over face and neck and remove with warm washcloth. I have purchase many times. Each container probably lasts me 2-3 mos. So the 3 pack is wonderful. My grandma used Ponds, my mom, me, and now I have my daughter using it Great product.

Convenient, Easy to Use, Pretty Good at Removing Makeup?
This took a while to deliver, but hey, that's fine. I previously used the pink-capped Garnier Micellar Water as a makeup remover, and it was fine, but it was just very standard makeup remover, and I felt it was definitely overhyped. It didn't do much for clearing up messes on my skin, which is very dry and sensitive, but at least it removed makeup. Anyway, when this FINALLY delivered yesterday, I was very happy to try it out. Don't be scared by how scary the pictures look. The cream itself looks pretty bland and ordinary, and it seems a bit clumped and sticky and heavy. I used a small fingertip's dollop and started rubbing it, and hey, what do you know, it actually removes makeup pretty well. You just rub it in like it's a moisturizer and you're massaging your face. It feels a little oily and it makes your face quite shiny, and makeup residue doesn't come off on your finger if you swipe it on your face, so I was suspicious. But then I took a cotton pad and swiped once, and boom! Makeup. Just like with Garnier's Micellar Water. Two small dollops and I was basically done with removing everything, even mascara and eyeliner, and I didn't waste half as many cotton pads as I usually do with micellar water. And my face FELT pretty clean, too. You tell me. Here's to hoping it works in the long-term. (Don't forget to wash your face afterwards! Pond's makes your face seem pretty slick and odd at first, but if you wash it off with water you're good to go.)

This stuff is UNBELIEVABLE!
I have waited to post my review because I wanted to give an accurate description of my experience. This is my first encounter with using a cold cream cleanser. I am pleasantly surprised by how well it removes makeup. First, I tried applying the cleanser and then removing it with a tissue (which turned into 4 tissues) because that's the way I've seen other women use it. I didn't like that method because it felt like a lot of tugging on my skin. However, it did indeed thoroughly remove my makeup. I first applied the cream heavily thinking that it was going to require a lot to get off all of my makeup. The second time I tried it, I applied the cleanser and then removed it with a damp cloth. I applied a little less cream this time since I was also going to be using a damp cloth. The makeup still came off easily, but I felt like 1) I just ruined a perfectly good wash cloth because of all the makeup residue and 2) I washed away the moisture in my skin and was left feeling really dry. Still.... I'm impressed with how much makeup came off. My tried and true method that I prefer is applying a light layer of cream all over my face and then removing it with a facial wipe. I like the Co$tco brand since it's cheap and it's light and the cloths are plenty big enough that I just need one and it still leaves plenty of moisture behind. I should mention that I use a very high quality foundation made to really stick to your skin and last throughout the day and waterproof mascara. I find that if you really massage it into your skin, and also let it sit for a few extra seconds on your lashes, it breaks everything down easily with only one application. You can actually feel it breaking down the mascara as you gently massage it in. I should also mention that I normally have oily skin and I was super hesitant to add something greasy on top of my skin. However, my oiliness has reduced and I haven't had a single breakout since using this product (been using for well over a month). I am astonished at how cheap this product is and how well it works. How is it possible that no one has ever recommended this to me before??

Perfect for my Rosacea Sensitive skin
I have been using this product for at least 1 1/2 years. I had every intention of writing a product review after about 6 months but time got a way. Today, I really wanted to share my review because I know how important reviews are to me especially with skin care products. For many years, my skin always looked wonderful. I used the same skin care products didn't have a need for makeup and then one day it all changed. I ended up with some dermatitis that was diagnosed as perioral dermatitis finally getting that cleared up through a dermatologist but then ended up with Rosacea. What happened I asked myself? Could it be menopause related? Possibly! Fortunately, I found a dermatologist that helped me maintain. However, along the way I was recommended to many different skin care products that only made my skin look red and more red. I just didn't have any luck with a recommendation from them on a cleansing product or moisturizer that wouldn't make my skin look worse. I researched and researched. I bought and bought. Natural, expensive and not so expensive, I have tried. Then, I thought why not Pond's cold cream. My grandmother used it. So I bought a small jar and gently placed it on my very sensitive skin. I know better than to place all over my face any new product. I started with sections of my face and then eventually applied all over. I can't believe it is a year and a half later and I can say I actually found a skincare cleanser that works for my skin. The product does look like a moisturizer in some ways which made me a little skeptical as well. However, for my skin it does not act like it is overly moisturizing. I think it actually balances my skin. Even though I have Rosacea, I do not consider myself having dry skin. Also, I do not rub my skin. Something I know not to do with my Rosacea. I wet my face and gently apply Ponds with my fingers, I rinse my face and pat dry with a towel. So glad I found Ponds cold cream cleanser.

I love this. More than wipes.
36 yr old chick here who loves this. My grandma got me using this when I was younger. Removes eye makeup so well. Makes skin soft for a second cleanse. Or you can take the day off with this and do a double cleanse later on which I love. Longevity is a great thing. It's so hydrating.
