I typically don’t write reviews (in fact, I think I’ve written just one or two in about ten years of doing business with Amazon), but I feel like this company deserves some credit. In an industry dominated by Trezor and Ledger, Ellipal has attempted to make a new type of hardware wallet. The first thing I will say is that this seems legit. The mnemonic seed it gave me wasn’t something custom to Ellipal, it was industry standard and I was able to restore the seed to a Trezor and access my BTC and DGB with no issue. So even if the company doesn’t make it, I’m confident I could always retrieve my funds by using the seed on another brand of wallet. I also like how this device handles the private key signing of transactions. On paper it may seem like “a lot” of steps (three), but in reality it feels a lot more secure than having to plug my device into a computer’s USB port for authentication. You create the send transaction on the companion app which displays an initial transaction QR code, you then go to the corresponding account on your Ellipal and enter a password scan the first QR code with the Ellipal, you then use the companion app to scan the signature verification QR code created by the Ellipal to finish the process. Done. The private key is never connected to the internet. It is only ever displayed on the Ellipal and it is never connected to a computer’s USB, the internet, or anything that could cause it to get into someone else’s hands. I’m just waiting for them to add support for a few more specific coins and then I will completely drop my Trezor and Ledger. (Side note: there is not one single wallet that works with/stores private keys for all the cryptos I have—the first one that supports all the ones I’m holding will be my go-to. I’m hoping it’s my Ellipal)

This is supposed to be a purely mobile device compatible cold wallet. It comes installed with version 1.5. In order to update the firmware, it requires a PC. I have yet to find a cold wallet that is 100% compatible with a mobile device. Sorry Ellipal, but if it requires a PC to update the device, then it's not 100% compatible. Very disappointed that I can't move my LTC or DGB to my cold wallet because I don't have a PC to update it.Additionally, the app was flagged by my Norton mobile safety for unsual behavior.It's true that the cold wallet is 100% air gapped, but the app used for transactions doesn't inspire confidence & it is extremely annoying that I need a PC to update the firmware when the device was sold as a mobile wallet.

Set up and update was easy. Videos are available on their website. They currently have a promo for new customers and they will Air-Drop 5 EOS for free and pay your fee with new purchase. The wallet creates an EOS account for you and with a simple email they credit your account. Creating a new account was also very easy during the setup process. They also have support via the Telegram app. I’m very new to crypto currency and I can honestly say that using the ELLIPAL wallet was easy and it’s giving me piece of mind that my assets are safer.

Listing said it had the 2.0 software. NOPE ! it had the 1.5 version. Caused all kinds of mental stress and technical strain. After 2 weeks of back and forth with support, ordering a mini memory card and usb mini card readear (expenses I had not planned on) downloading the update, installing the memory card int he Ellipal and doing the flash update.... Did I finally get it to work and list all the major coins....sigh. Now they have a NEW update that adds ADA. I think I will wait until it's more than one coin..sheesh!I like the screen and the resolution is pretty good. Text is fairly easy to read and the fonts are about 10 points in size on the screen. Not sure what font.

a very carefully written down and remembered password didn't work 5 minutes later....2 attempts and account is history...really? nope but hell nope, i would put chucky cheese tokens in this thing. extremely small touch screen buttons...must be made for lil people...am pissed, but relieved i sent a TEST amount at it 1rst.. Update a month later after all the hassle unit will not charge,turn on or anything else.

The customer service is incredible. Well worth the price. The app is easy to use.Con only has about 10 cypto coins

Absolutely love it! I also have a ledger and the ellipal is by far much more convenient. I truly feel my crypto is safe!

Once setup, I really like this cold wallet. Setting up was a bit of a hassle because it needed to have a software update to v1.7 in order to add different coin types to one account (it comes with v1.5, each coin has separate accounts). I love the fact it doesn’t need to be connected to the computer to use it, just use with an app on the phone via QR codes. There is multi level security. I took a star off due to the poor instructions, they need to be more complete and detailed.
