I ordered this book from a third party seller and found it to be in very bad condition. The book size was smaller than the inidicated dimensions, the font was too small to read and pages were very bad. I returned it and checked at a local bookstore. The book is an excellent introduction to Linear algebra.

Great explanation of Linear Algebra concepts especially the application part at the end of each chapter. I loved the application in Markov Chain, Linear Models, Computer Graphics. After reading constrained optimization in the last chapter, you will get a feel of advance optimization problems. Also, Basis concepts are better explained at Khan Academy.Cons - The font size is very small so you might have to keep the book very close to the eyes.Overall, just get it.

Excellent! Lay has included total linear algebra perfectly in this book....only the drawback is font size is low....

Book sheets are in bad condition and are wet with water and dried. Sheets lost the crispness.Bad condition, Book content is good but book quality not maintained.

From my personal experience, this textbook is amazing. Compared to many other math textbooks that I have used, I can actually understand the book's explanations if I miss anything during class. The exercises are great, however the last set of questions from the exercises are generally challenging because the author is trying to hint at the next section without telling you. The textbook is also pretty small and light so it is easy to carry around.

Good attitude, good quality, packaging integrity is not damaged. The next will consider buying the store's products. Price is cheaper.

Chances are you are a university student in need of a linear algebra textbook. Great news! This older version is exactly the same as the newer version in every which way. If the new edition is a required text for your class this older edition will save you some cash. I bought this edition from amazon.com for 13 dollars. The university bookstore was charging 178 dollars for basically the same book.
