Easy to install and works perfectly
My humidifier hadn't worked properly for years and dripped water constantly. The heating and air conditioning guy insisted that he could not fix it because the unit was too old and for that reason he could not get the parts. I'm sure the reason he told me this BS is that he wanted to sell me a new furnace. A quick search of the model number on Amazon revealed plenty of parts, including this solenoid. It was a simple replacement that took only about 25 minutes, and only that long because it was close to a wall and hard to get to. My biggest concern was how to wire it. It has two black wires and no indication which one is supposed to be connected to the hot line from the switch. But then I noticed that is was 24 volt AC current, and a little research into the subject of AC current told me that it did not matter which way the wires are connected. So I installed the solenoid and now the humidifier is working perfectly. When I turn the humidistat switch up, it turns on the solenoid as the switch exceeds the ambient humidity and the water starts flowing. If the switch is turned lower, the water turns off. Now no more water drip when the furnace is off or the humidity is high. This little gem saved me a few hundred dollars to have a professional fix it.

Very good solenoid replacement part
Isolated my humidifier problem to be the old solenoid on the unit. Found this one that was an OEM part with a decent price on it. Installed easily and quickly and bingo - problem solved. Worked great from the outset and still going good. Would recommend this unit for replacement.

Works great, easy install, Generalaire 1099 with 990-46
I have a Generalaire 1099 with a 990-46 Water Inlet valve that was always letting water through (~20y old). I wasn't sure about this 990-53 working, but the specs matched and it looked the same. I can say it does work (but check your specs - volts, watts, PSI, fitting size before buying.) Mine had a 990-46 which made me worried, but when it arrived I noticed (you'll see this on the stock photo too) that the bag said 990-53 but on the actual product it has 990-46.Very easy to install, just turn off the power (preferably at breaker) and the water supply. Unscrew the water attachments where it matches the existing, remove your electrical wire connectors and test for no voltage, detach it and replace with new, then reassemble. About a 10-15m job for a layman. i verified the water only came through when the furnace was running.Easy home project.

Perfect fit for General 1099 humidifier.
This is a high quality solenoid valve. Came fully assembled and works perfectly. The water flow rate is just right for the 1099 humidifier. The bracket can be rotated to get the proper orientation of the inlet and outlet ports. Would buy again.

Furnace solenoid
Solenoid leaks at nut and drips onto wiring. Just bought it a month or so ago. Think this would last longer. Strainer was cleaned so that's not the problem. Wouldn't recommend buying this product.

The valve fit perfectly for my 1099-29 General Aire humidifier and I had the old one off and the new one installed in less then 15 minutes. The valve is working great.

This part works perfectly!
Humidifier decided to quit increasing humidity in house in early January. Troubleshooted it to the 10 year old inlet valve. It took 10 minutes to install. All you need is a Phillips screwdriver, 1/2 in open end wrench, 9/16 in open end wrench, wire cutters and wire strippers along with a flat head screwdriver. Extra parts you will need is 2 Marrette connectors or other solder less connectors. Super simple!

Exact replacement.
This solenoid value is identical to the unit that failed after a long service life. Easy to replace. Far less cost than buying and/or replacing through an HVAC company.
