Simple rules, complex strategy
The rules are simple; you have a hand of (up to) five cards, and on your turn you can play one card and put a peg in any hole with a number greater than or equal to the number on that card. Or, if you want to keep your options broader in the coming turns and you have less than five cards, you can not play but instead draw a card. The objective is to get five pegs in a row.As you play, many tactical rules emerge - how many pegs an opponent can put in a row before you MUST block, ways to build up a lot of options so that it's hard for your opponents to block all of them, where to start, when to play which cards, etc.I find it VERY fun.It contains three colors of pegs, but that does not limit the number of players to 3. The colors of pegs can be split between two players each (or three, for that matter), so that each round, two players, each with a separate hand of cards and no more knowledge of what the other is going to do than the opponents have, each has a turn. Sometimes the teammate can make a blunder, giving the game to an opponent, but other times the benefits of two hands of cards shine out, and it is SO fun to learn what your teammate was preparing, ready, to do.Dividing two or three colors of pegs between equal numbers of players per color enables 4, 6, 8, 9, maybe 10, or 12 players. (12 is splitting 3 colors 4 ways each; 10 is splitting 2 colors 5 ways each; 12 might be better.) 6 players might be the best, but other numbers are good, too.

This one is made from good plastic, black in color and the numbers are ...
I tried finding the board game 99 and found this. It is the same concept and the board is almost identical to a 99 board. This one is made from good plastic, black in color and the numbers are written in white. Very easy to read! The pegs are solid in color and resemble the old bright lights game. The cards are small in size butacceptable to use. Great game for whole family and us older folks ad well! Challenges you in your thinking , and your stragedy, makes you pay attention if you want to win! Great game! Great gift idea too.

0-99 game with a makeover! - fun for the whole family!
This game is an updated version of 0-99. It's a great game and is perfect choice for a game night, family visits/reunions or when you have company over! You can even bring it with you to parties! The whole point of the game is to get 5 of the same color in a row. (It can be vertical, horizontal or diagonal). Each card has a number on it and essentially you can place your game piece in any slot from 0 up to and including the number on the card. (Strategy is your friend, as well as learning to read your partner's moves!) May the odds be ever in your favor!(One thing I do suggest is to get little Tupperware containers to keep the game pieces in while playing (as well as for storage). It makes cleanup easier and you don't have to worry about them rolling off the table!)

Best game to leave out!
This is the perfect board game to have sitting around. It's great for kids as well as very competitive, too-smart adults who think it's easy. It is. But it's also deceptively strategic. It's been part of our family since the original family sold us a game about 35 yrs ago. Since then it's been a great gift to college kids and newlyweds and families with kids. Plus, two can play. We're big fans.

A great game to own and enjoy
This has been one of our family favorites for dozens of years. We found this new version to give as a gift to our kids. They have always enjoyed it and are glad to have the game for themselves. Good blend of thinking, chance, and teamwork.

Great strategy game
Played this twice with my 11 & 14 yr old and so far they've each beat me. I wasn't taking it easy on them either, so it's challenging for adults and kids alike. There's 3 sets of colored pegs so I'm not sure how much fun it would be for more than 3 people unless they wanted to work in teams, but to us it's more fun strategizing on our own.

we love this game
We have been playing 5 straight for years using an old game our friends purchased in a bar in the late 1960s. We have been trying to locate more games with no success. So my husband made a game board out of wood, drilling each of the 100 holes, we numbered them with permanent marker and made a base to set the board on to contain the wooded dowels purchased at Menards and painted the tops different colors. The hardest part was making the cards. It is really nice but heavy to take anywhere.Just my chance I entered 5 straight in Amazon and to our great surprise found it again. This game is so much fun. Thanks much.
