This is really great as my next step in becoming fluent!
I have done Rosetta Stone levels 1-5 twice, I've completed duolingo.com once from August until March, and then I was at a bit of a standstill. So after checking many options and many books, I decided that Swick's books were the next best step for me. I also read books that are in German and English, I watch yabla videos, but this is important for me to really understand grammar and other problems I've come across. I want to keep progressing, and for me, these books are the next best step. My grandma taught me how to read the old style lettering and how to pronounce German when I was just 6 years old, but unfortunately, she didn't translate for me. So for that reason, I don't have to concentrate on pronunciation at all, I remember it very well, and it's been a real blessing to me. I can still read the old style lettering too, but not too much use for that, but every once in awhile on genealogy it's a big help to read the old German.

helpful basics
Book does give nice short direct help with basic German aspects that vary from English.Book is similar to others in its McGraw-Hill "Practice Makes Perfect" Series.German items are not rare forms, but the grammar twists in everyday language. As to typo, in my first printing edition of January 2013, it strongly seems that the page 111 examples must "correct" the page 110 two general rule sentences. Thus, to match the page 111 examples, an Accented Prefix is a Separable Prefix, whereas an Unaccented Prefix is an Inseparable Prefix, not the reverse said on page 110.

Useful
Quite a useful book to polish your German and to review particularly tricky aspects of the language. I would recommend it.

This is perhaps the best one in the practice make perfect series. They are all good.
