I made it work
Keep in mind, the button is the size used in GBA SP, if you have a bit of putty though, these do work with the original versions board and case.

These only have 2 pins, GBA SP buttons have 4, misleading!

These buttons are NOT for the GBA SP. Learned that the hard way after comparing the actual parts with these.
