Metra 40-VW54 VW Amplified Antenna Adapter, Black

Ordered this for my 2001 Audi A4 and it works great!. If you are installing an aftermarket radio in this car, this adapter is a must. Don't waste your time on an unamplified adapter like I did, this car requires an amplified antenna to get any sort of radio reception. Installation was easy, just connect the blue wire to your new radio's amplifier turn on wire and plug in the other 2 ends and you are all set!

Porsche 996 antenna is the thin black line on the windshield. They are notorious for having poor radio reception. The powered antenna is quickly forget on in the aftermarket world but this adapter ensured the reception was better then before.

Just recently replaced my stock head unit, i didn't want to replace the door speakers because jetta has a pretty decent stock speaker system. So i picked up this, and man night and day difference in the quality of radio stations. more base, no crackling when i go under trees or bridges. if your replacing your head unit, and you don't have one of these. You might as well get one because it really cleans up the radio stations.

Improves quality of signal.

I replaced the Bose Symphony head unit in my 2001 Audi A4 with an Alpine aftermarket unit. The Metra 40-VW54 nearly restored the radio reception of the Symphony unit. Due to Audi's over-engineered antenna diversity circuitry, I do not believe any aftermarket unit will get the reception of the original. This product is a great solution for a great price.

This antenna is awesome! I am in sort of a rural area in CT and I get better reception than ever before. I bought an aftermarket android radio for my Audi A4 (2004) and 2 antennas that came with the 2 trim kits for install. Audi and maybe VW (?) radios have 2 antennas and this new radio has one. If moving to a radio with just one you must get this antenna which connects to the LARGER connector. The two that had the smaller connector did NOT work at all. I could have been next to the broadcast and not received a signal! I looked at reviews after being disappointed with the original antenas and this one had some great reviews so I am glad to give my two cents and agree. Good luck!

I bought this hoping for the silver bullet. It made absolutely no difference, except in my pocketbook. Before the unit was installed (with the new Sony AM/FM/CD I could receive nothing but static on the AM band. FM works fine. With it properly installed (there is only one wire to connect, plus a firm antenna connection) there is no change in status/function. AM has worked in the past in this vehicle. I'm so, so disappointed. Metra's packaging says "VW/AUDI". Mine is a 2006 Dodge Sprinter. I'm sure that there is a solution, other than moving. Wish I knew. Tom

Works great and easy install. Just install the Blue wire with a 3 way connector and you're good. All stations work and they sound perfectly clear. Would recommend it

Bought it to replace the current adapter in my 2007 Audi A3. Day and night difference. Before, I was barely getting reception and it was cutting out so much that it couldn't even get through one song. Just replacing it with this new one fixed my problem. Audio is clear and doesn't cut out at all. I get all my RDS tags since the connection is stellar. Couldn't have asked for anything better. Fantastic product!!

Works in the '07 VW Golf City (MKIV). I have radio, and it power is hooked up to the extra power coming out of the head unit for a JVC KD R800.
