Bold Softside Expandable Carry on Rollaboard Luggage, Carry on 22-Inch, Olive Green/Black

Just received my Travelpro medium luggage today and I love it! It seems to be very well made and is very sturdy when filled to the brim and it rolls great. I had my doubts about the ease of pulling it when packed to 50 lbs but it pulls just like if it was empty. It doesn't fall forward when fully packed. I tested it on the cobblestone like patio and on carpet and on tile, no change. I love all the handles on it and it holds a lot more than it looks. It's really nice looking too, I got the blue/black. I bought this for my trip to Europe next year but I will be using it on all my travels. It seemed a little pricy but I've spent a lot more on various Samsonite luggage and there's no comparison. So I think it's worth it to spend the extra money up front and have a reliable sturdy suitcase.

Travelpro is one of the (very few) luggage manufacturers that makes roll-aboard bags with two sturdy wheels, versus the un-explicable industry trend toward those stupid and fragile spinner wheels that are largely useless once you want to wheel the bag outside of an airport's smooth floors. (try those spinners to wheel a packed bag on a cobblestone street sometime...). For that reason alone, this bag is superior to most midrange luggage. But there's more - like many Travelpro models, this has a zippered liner, built in pockets, and straps for holding things in place. Because it is not a "clamshell" with the main zipper down the middle, you can actually use it on the typical suitcase rack that hotels provide in every room - the lid is on top and you can open/ use the bag with the lid standing up. Has an RFID protected side pocket, two ball-bearing wheels (which can be replaced with indestructible skateboard wheels when needed), and a pull handle protected with a zippered pocket. It also has two exterior straps that will take pressure off of the main zipper when the bag is packed full. Travelpro bags are the go-to brand for Airline employees who travel frequently. They maximize carrying capacity while fitting in tight overhead bins. My wife loves this bag as the blue/black coloring makes it much easier to spot in a sea of black bags at baggage claim. I can recommend this bag as a good value for the money, and good functionality when moving around, especially when traveling on trains, subways, etc.

This luggage has now survived two international airline trips and done well. It has excellent capacity. The wet pocket inside the lid is very handy for damp items. There is another pocket inside the lid for other small items that you don't want to submerge under the other items. The zippers appear to be robust. The ability to unzip and expand the capacity is handy. Saves refolding dirty laundry when packing to return! And it has straps to help compress the luggage and take strain off the zippers.

Good two-wheeled bag with a few flaws. Been traveling with the 22” carryon as my primary bag for over a month: planes, trains, automobiles, cobbled streets, & stairs. It’s capacious, durable, has built-in riveted straps, rolls well. I’ve concerns about the extendable handle holding up, but no problems thus far. Things I wish were different: 1. Two of the interior pockets use a wide mesh material that’s prone to snagging. Would have been better to use a finer mesh that still allowed for ventilation & visual assessment. 2. The front exterior pockets lack any means of securing their zippers with locks or carabiners. 3. The innermost front exterior pocket is lined with microfiber for delicate electronics, but again can’t be secured. I also found it too small for a 10” tablet in a slim case. 4. At 22.5”, it’s slightly over the carryon limits for United & several other major carriers. Budget airlines will certainly make you check it. If you’re confident of seat upgrades or choosing early boarding, this may not be an issue. 5. The zippered expansion/compression feature is so small as to be pointless. In summation, this is a practical soft-sided carryon that should withstand long term abuse at half the cost of luxury brand luggage. Could be improved with a few minor changes.

I bought this piece of luggage for a one month trip, 2 weeks of which were traveling to 4 different locations in Japan. I’ve typically used a backpack but was looking for something to pull on wheels (and not those spinners that can get sheared off by baggage handlers.) I was a little hesitant at first due to some of the reviews but this seemed to be my best option. Excellent choice! This is one of the most perfect carryon bags I’ve used over many decades. The zippers perform perfectly and the side cinch straps do their job well. Ignore the comments of people who had difficulty with those particular items - they are not a problem. Plenty of room for a 2 plus week traveling as you do not need a humongous suitcase to travel. If you stay in hotels in Japan and other Asian countries you don’t want anything bigger as many hotel rooms are small and navigating large luggage on planes, trains and other public transportation is a nuisance. I’ll be interested to see how this weathers traveling over the next several years but I see nothing in the design or materials that suggest there will be problems. The price is extremely reasonable for the quality of this bag so if you’re looking for something that meets airline carryon metrics and can pack lots of your stuff while surviving baggage handlers (when a small plane has little/no carry on space), buy this bag.

Bought two of these suitcases for an extended trip that will have multiple destinations. We were looking for something that had a flexible outer shell, and durable rollerblade wheels for easier rolling on rough surfaces. These look very well constructed and are very light. Will update after we have traveled. UPDATE: The suitcases were an excellent choice for our travels and survived 7 airline flights and 2 train trips with no damage or significant signs of wear. By using packing cubes, we were able to pack more than we needed for a month long vacation, including hiking boots and a travel tripod for our camera. The tall and narrow shape and the flexible sides and top made them easy to pack in vehicles, and the 2 rollerblade wheels were a dream to handle on concrete surfaces compared to the 4 wheel spinner style. The wheels are very durable and well protected from impact that could cause breakage, and were more than capable of being used even on gravel driveways. The zippers are very heavy duty and move without binding. The straps that close over the zipper and act as a safeguard against zipper failure are a nice touch, as are the grab handles located on the top, bottom, and side. It was very easy to grab the suitcases from carousels and placing them into vehicles was much easier. I would not hesitate to recommend Travel Pro Tpro Bold, and will probably purchase more of their luggage in the future.

This checked soft case luggage is superior in quality and a very functional product. Highly recommended.
