The Rise and Fall of the Nephilim: The Untold Story of Fallen Angels, Giants on the Earth, and Their Extraterrestrial Origins

pretty good
The Rise and Fall of the Nephilim gives a great account of the mysterious 'watchers', the ones who were called the sons of god who looked upon the daughters of man, which apparently started all the vice on Earth. It's not much of a stretch to speculate that lust for the beautiful earth women is what caused the downfall of even the 'sons of god', because lust seems to be what drives our society even now. Just look at advertising, or a Victoria Secret catalog and you'll see that lust is what drives us to buy-buy-buy, and can even bring down a president.Scott Alan Roberts pulls together the threads of the story by way of Biblical references, where he certainly knows his subject. While apologizing way too much for stepping on the toes of believers, in my humble opinion, Roberts shows how the passages of the Bible, and the Book of Enoch can be made much clearer if you insert real beings for the 'watchers', instead of angelic beings. This makes sense, since imagining a being made of spirit, giving up his lofty position just for sex, does seem a bit silly.Pros: Roberts gives up a great Biblical background to the Nephilim, and even includes the ancient astronaut theories. He includes Stichin's theories, giving us background into how the translations were amiss. I can't vouch for that since I don't read ancient languages, or more than one modern one for that matter.Cons: I didn't feel as if I learned anything new with this book, though I had just been reading The Genius of the Few, by Christian & Barbara Joy O'Brian, two authors who define this research.Roberts does back up his work with a very thorough, notes, bibliography and an appendix which will come in handy to fellow researchers. This book is a good introduction to the subject of the Nephilim.

Interesting Bit of Faux-Scholarship -- Entertaining
Books such as the Rise and Fall of the Nephilim create a problem for the modern, generalist, reader. On the one hand, they represent an interesting new reading of the age old story of the children of the biblical Watchers/Elohim/Angels and human women [weren't there any female Watchers???], but they also offer an interesting re-formation of an old myth for a contemporary world. The ancient alien slant on the Watchers and the Nephilim feeds directly into urban legend and a new world mythos, as people are now attempting to re-imagine history/myth for a new and globalized world.Mr. Roberts' book, specifically, is well written and carefully argued -- though there a plenty of evidentiary leaps that have had to be taken since there is no evidence other than ancient texts -- Biblical, extra-Biblical, Jewish, Sumerian, Canaanite, Hindu, etc.Books such as Rise and Fall of the Nephilim should be taken less with a grain of salt and more with a quarry of this. They are interesting, but only from the standpoint of entertainment. Deeply speculative, these gnostic dementia explorations of the human and non-human past must be approached with caution and should never be confused with genuine history, science, or, even, scholarship. If the reader can approach such books in this manner a great deal of entertainment, of the almost pornographic variety, may be had.Highly Recommended for those interested in Ancient Aliens and Biblical mythology or fringe religious studies.4 out of 5 stars.Nephilim lost one star because the text dragged a bit in the middle and there were too many cute pop culture references, as well as too many personal anecdotes. When writing a faux-scholarly work it is important to remove ones self, except in the introduction, from the text as much as possible -- this Mr. Roberts failed to do.

The Shining ones-Sons of God
The book"The rise and fall of the Nephilim" has confirmed my believe that we are being manipulated by spiritual beings. Both good and bad spirits as they may be termed are fighting both in Heaven and on earth to dominate humans. The Almighty God has given so much free will that they all preach no judgement for their followers after. Even the Holy Spirit conceived Mary the mother of (Yashuah)Jesus so it not surprising other spirits did likewise but the world was destroyed just to get rid of their products. We definitely are not alone and cannot perform to required standard without the intervention of Spirit.I feel the All Mighty God should take full responsibility for all that is happening on earth and correct the spiritual beings so that things would fall in place according to His plan. And that was why he made a physical body for The WORD which is directly from him to manifest on earth. The body could no handle the Spirit of God for too long (3yrs)and left only to send us another holy Spirit which can stay in us as long as we live on MotherEarth. We are spirit beings and that spirit in us is greater than we in the flesh. What i pray is to be able to know when the Spirit in me is speaking using my vocal organs so that the world would not hold me to ransom just as they did to Jesus. The spirit in Jesus spoke through Him saying at one tome that before Abraham was I am and identified to be one with God because of the Spirit WORD in him but the world of that time never understood it and said he was blaspheming.Christianity claims to oppose the force known as "Satan" and yet there are many themes of Satanic rituals within its beliefs and ceremonies. There is only One Absolute God with many sons. Jesus was a physical being not present at the beginning of creation even though the WORD was.Yashuah "Jesus" became the mediator between God and man and was then elevated to seat at the right hand of the Almighty God and was given authority over Heaven and earth after he died and was resurrected. He of himself could do nothing. True Christian religion is not out yet because we are presently following tradition. I am still searching for the Truth and pray for the Almighty's guidance.

This is a brilliant book and well worth reading.
This book had more to offer than I expected it to. I enjoyed every page. It was a book I couldn't put down until I'd finished it. It was clear there was a lot of research and work gone into it and the writer was honest. I'm used to reading these kind of books and being disappointed through the writers prejudices, their lack of knowledge or research. However this book is not one of those.A book worth reading. It was amazing what interesting facts I learned about the Bible, and how I began to read it with an open mind.

Just like the Nephilim and the Apocalypse book it is hard to read and does not actually give satisfaction of proof or finality. A difficult book but very interesting and challenging
