PrimeEffects Sweet Dreams Sleep Mask with Soft Ear Plugs

I have actually had this about a month or so and have used it at home several times as my bedroom faces north/east, but doesn't get all too terribly bright. It is very comfortable, rarely slips, I love the earplug holder (haven't used the earplugs yet), and was over all pleased. My 'overall pleased' rating went through the roof this morning. Last night I was visiting with my parents and stayed over, since I tend to go to bed late and new I'd be leaving late morning today, I decided not to fuss with the pull out couch and decided to just sleep on the regular couch in the den. The den has two large windows that face east. There are blinds and decorative curtains but I figured, I have my mask, I'm only going to be sleeping about 6 hours I won't fuss the window treatments. I woke up around 6:30 AM when the sun was just coming up and put on my mask, next I know I hear my father up making breakfast. My eyes are still closed but I detect none of the usual pink/red of morning light I'd experienced with other masks. I open my eyes and see a spot or two of light. I flip up a corner of the mask to check the clock and it's 8:30 and the room is bathed in full on, bright morning, Florida light. Even with my eyes open under the mask I could barely tell if it was full sun or cloudy out (the previous day had been torrential rain). This mask in a GEM!!! I'm definitely ordering a backup. On the face it's soft and comfortable, the straps adjust nicely and don't dig into your head and there is hardly any slipping (I'm a sleeper that moves a LOT!). My wife bought this for me because she crochet's at night and has a light that she uses that is pretty bright. This product is outstanding. It has a small flap underneath the bottom of the mask that blocks out all the light. The other day after an all night work session, I was laying down for a nap around 4PM. That, unfortunately, is when the sun is shining directly into the bedroom and onto the bed. I put the sleep mask on and it was instantaneously dark. Truly amazing. The other thing I like about it is the weight, it is very lightweight so I can fold it and put it in my laptop bag for travel. Also, and this is embarrassing, but I have a fairly large head (not a freak or anything, just larger than normal :) ) and the elastic fits perfectly. To give you an idea, if you are thinking of hat sizes, I am an XL or 7.5 fitted or 23.5 inches and I have no problem with it at all. As far as the feel goes, it is perfectly soft for me. If you are looking for something that is fluffy, this isn't it. However, I specifically didn't want something that was bulky and gapped to let light in. This is designed perfectly so you get a comfortable fit and it doesn't feel like you are wearing something cumbersome. So the bottom line is that I definitely recommend it. As a side note, I purchased it from Prime Effects and they are an amazing vendor. I have Amazon Prime and my wife and I literally do almost all our shopping through Amazon. This company is definitely a step ahead in customer service. I received an email making sure I had received the order and a follow on after the fact to make sure I was satisfied. The thing that impressed me was that the messages were personalized so it didn't seem to be autogenerated which would be amazing nowadays. I received several emails from Philip who was very cordial and professional which was a really nice touch. Mask: This sleep mask does exactly what its supposed to; keeps the light out so you can sleep. I sleep in a room full of blinking (and not blinking) leds from various electronics and they started to make it hard for me to fall asleep. With this on i have no more problems with light. The part that goes over the eyes is comfortable. Stays in place well. Band: The ear plug holder is nice, but it causes a little discomfort for my left ear. You cant keep the plugs in the holder while sleeping or they will fall out. The band itsself is fine, it does go a little closer to the top of my ear than i would like, sometimes causing minor discomfort. Ear plugs: these are standard disposable ear buds. They work well at keeping sound out. Especially high pitched and low volume noises like crickets and birds. They also reduce my 6000 btu air conditioner from a loud grrrr to a low hum. Remember that these are disposable and you should replace them periodically. They are also standard size and wont fit small or extra large ear holes well. Pros: Works. The plug holder is nice. Cons: Not the most comfortable. Overall its good, working mask at a fair price. Make sure to read the instructions if you want it to work its best.
