This is great for a mug and brush shave, it lather is great without any secondary smells, wonderful product

I’ve been using Williams mug shaving soap for a very long time. The cake lasts forever, suds up real nice, and rinses nice and clean. The complain about not lathering up and not lasting, the user must be misusing the the product. As you put hot water in the sink, cover the soap in the mug with same hot water. Let sit for five seconds or so. Using your brush to hold the cake of soap in place, turn the mug upside down and drain all the water. Turn mug right side up, shake excess water off the brush, now and only now whip your brush around the top of the soap cake. Now you can lather up your face or what ever else you shaving with the luxurious lather. Remember to frequently rinse the razor off in the sink. A clean blade glides the best, and Williams is also one of best.

Been using this great product all my shaving life. The perfect amount of lather, a good honest shaving soap. Not for the hipster-dufas types that need all the oils, lotions, and scents. Definitely not foo-foo.

This is a decent shave soap. Will not melt in microwave, not a deal breaker for me. I get an ok lather in my cup but it goes on the face really thin, maybe something I'm doing.Smells like the little bars of hotel soap from the past. Lasts a lot longer than VDH deluxe soap. Again, nothing fancy and it works.**EDIT**I changed from 3 stars to stars because it was something I was doing. I added a little more water and BAM, I get a great lather. Missing 1 star because I have found that it is leaving a pretty thick film in my sink and on the outside of my shave bowl but I would buy it again. Also, it dosent melt in microwave because it is not made of glycerin.

I don’t understand the criticism of this soap. I have used a version of Williams mug soap that did not leather properly, but this particular version of Williams lathers up just fine, and great slickness, post shave feel, is great. It is even great for my very sensitive redness prone skin, so it is a first rate soap in all regards, especially given the price. The only gripe I could understand might be the scent. It smells like citronella candles for mosquitoes, but don’t let that determine your purchase. It is not bad, and even if you think so initially, it will grow on you, given the performance and price of the soap. So, put the soap in your mug, add hot water, lather up with a good quality brush and you’ll get good shaves.

This product was purchased for my 91 yr old Dad who knows what he does and doesn’t like. He has been very pleased with the shave soap and I will be reordering when he opens his last box. Thank you for making such a good product that is exactly as presented in your ad.

My dad swears by this product. I have bought him other brands in the past and he always goes back to this one, without fail. Our local store that usually carries this stopped so I came to Amazon. The price is one of lowest I’ve seen compared to other shave soaps and the repeated use from my dad tells me this is THE soap to get. He also is prone to some skin issues and this doesn’t seem to cause any reaction.

Arrived fast and was a very good buy. I bought a shaving kit at Hannafords, but it seemed that the soap might of been causing a rash, which allergies are a rarity for me, anyways, but I disconnected the soap and bought this to try it. Has a beautiful lavender like smell, but doesn't coat your head in it. My hands came away smelling of normal dial soap. It foams well, but dries pretty quickly, I had to lather more to finish through the first shave through, but that isn't an overall big deal. No break out from this so far. Also, the price point is very good!

I bought this shaving soap for my dad. He's been using this soap his entire life. The product has been discontinued and it's hard to find. I was glad to find it here ... a bit pricey though.

Makes for some slick skin. Scent not how I remember, but still ok.

A well priced ,quality shaving soap. A light citrus and bergamount scent .Lather is slightly less then others ,but very gentle on the skin.A good buy ,and a good price point. :)

For a fraction of the cost per shave (compared to shaving cream/foam) this soap is great. I didn't expect the new scent though. When I've bought this before it was unscented, now has a lemony/citronella smell. Not necessarily a bad thing, just unexpected.

The cost was great and my husband has-been using for a long time
