Fluidmaster 5403 3-Inch Water Saving Long Life Toilet Flapper

11/10 customer service. I bought a Fluidmaster 5403 3-Inch flapper in November 2021. In March 2026 4 1/2 years later it had developed a small blister on its O-ring and would not seal correctly. Typical wear I assumed. As I was ordering another one I saw it had a ten year warranty. After ordering the new one I went to the Fluidmaster web page and found the warranty information. I filled in and sent the warranty form and 45 minutes later I got an email with a FedEx tracking number saying a replacement part was on its way. The new part got here in 3 days. This flapper fits perfectly - took on a minute to install - and works great. Not only is this a great part that does the job the customer services was bonkers good. From now own Fluidmaster will be used for all my toilet needs. The people at Fluidmaster shall sit amongst the chosen.

This toilet flapper valve is easy to install and works perfectly. I can't recommend it enough. You won't be disappointed.

Works well, easy install

This was not universal in terms of latching. I’m. Ot sure if that was my fault, so I’ll settle on saying it seems like it will work great if you know how to use it and just know toilets apparently vary in stupid ways. So double check. Honestly I think this taught be it was not the flapper causing the running, but it was a solid try from an uninformed person taking the term universal as I think we generally would. I didn’t even know there was a difference in the flapper connection vs the size of the plug. That I really thought was universal. I accept my failure and momentary defeat lol Not going to return this, because it works fine and seems great quality. I only give 4 stars due to the marketing of universal not seemingly being 100 percent accurate and that was why I ordered a more expensive version of other cheaper ones.

What a great product. The photos explain why you should buy this one. I've also added replacement tips: The first photo shows 3 distinct advantages. 1) a durable silicone rubber seal. The body of the flapper is rigid, durable plastic that maintains the structural integrity of the flapper, but the seal is an advanced, separate, and flexible material that will make an effective leak-proof seal. 2) The width of the hinge is adjustable to fit the posts, which vary by brand, so that the alignment of the flapper is maintained. 3) The volume of the flush is adjustable to conserve water if you choose. 10 settings let you balance water usage and effectiveness. Even the clip that attaches the chain to the flush lever is improved over the traditional dumb clip. The simple addition of an internal barb both secures the clip and keeps it aligned. A table of settings by brand shows the proper volume setting and chain length. The brand of my toilet (Crane) was not listed, so I just set the length to be the same as the previous Toto flapper. Tip: if you have a conventional (non-quarter turn) shut-off valve, don't forget to loosen the packing nut when shutting off the supply, and smugging it up afterwards. It may leak briefly when opening and closing the valve, but failure to adjust the packing may eventually result in a leaky valve. Photo 7 shows the amount of water that was wasted after the complete failure of the Toto flapper before I heard the water leaking. I have a Moen Flo meter on my household water supply. It misclassified the continuous leak as 264 gallons of hose usage; therefore, it did not notify me of the leak. Even though the Flo meter used AI to classify water usage, it did not notify me because of the misclassification. This makes me wonder if, in the event of a washer hose break, it would not detect it.

Easy install, works great

Got all new toilets and they require this size replacement flappers. Bought some extras to keep on hand when needed. Fluidmaster flapper quality is good.

Chain that came with it was damaged ended up having to fix it myself otherwise it was just fine.

it fits well in my toilet and it does the job - no more leaks, i am not wasting water. Installation took 3 minutes.

Good product, works without issues but a bit expensive, so, 1 less star.
