hi, what kind of glue do i have to use with this edgebander?

The edgebanding I use is preglued. As it goes though the edgebander it melts the glue and sticks to the wood. Works great.

Has anyone used bigger work pieces with this edge bander i.e. 12" wide by 8'long stock.

If your piece is much wider than the table you will want to rig up a table extension to help keep workpiece square to the banding and roller. For long pieces, use an outfeed table or a second person and you are good to go. I have edge banded full sheets of plywood with ease.

does this device shave the edges of the banding flush with the top and bottom of the workpiece?

No. I use a fastcap edge banding trimmer to quickly shave the edges. My edge bander works well, after some minor tweaking.
