This will not sound like the original head you had.
When they designed this head, they were trying to get it to fit better... which it does, but it is very tingy and high pitched in comparison to let's just say... an Alexandria Doumbek head. I was looking for an Alexandria head... which are very hard to find for the size of Doumbek I have. Alexandria heads are much warmer and deeper in sound. I believe it is due to the natural imperfections that happen during the hammering of the metal ring. I think Alexanria Doumbek heads may even be out of production. The only answer is to buy a hand made head from somewhere else... that has the little hammer marks around the metal ring. It's the variance in height of the metal ring that helps with the sound of the drum. Remo's head needs dampeners. Who puts dampeners on a hand drum head!?!?!?
