Fantastic product once you understand it
Great product! Instructions need help it is very difficult to understand the steps and the process and the container against the device to program the code and the little spoon to collect blood and the stripe. I think you need a WAY BETTER and DETAILED easy steps to get the device ready but once you get it done it's very simple I did not use the little spoon I dropped the blood directly into the stripe and the reading was spot on match with the one from the lab so now I trust it.

Difficult to use and have yet to get a Cholesterol reading. What a waste of time and $.
The instructions are not clear and concise. The device does not give sufficient feedback, in terms of troubleshooting information. I was unable to get the device to read the blood sample strip and I still don't know why because there is no dialog (feedback). The device just goes blank and does not indicate whether it is processing or if it requires further action from me or not even error message that I can lookup in the troubleshooting section. It does nothing but sits there. I don't know what is wrong or if I am doing something wrong or if the meter has an internal problem or what!

Great cholesterol test kit!
I've been wanting a cholesterol test kit I could do at home ever since I started having high cholesterol a couple of years ago. I'm so glad I can monitor how my medications are helping keep my cholesterol in check in the comfort of my home, any time I want with this device. This kit was great- from the packaging to the handy travel case and all the items that are included with this kit. The user manual was easy to follow and even came with a handy quick start guide and log book to keep track of my measurements. Since this was the first time I ever used a device like this, I definitely had to read the manual to code and pair the type of test strip you are using to the machine, and know how to take a blood sample. But the manual was easy to follow and thorough. Now that I tested my total cholesterol (red) strip that was included, I'm interested in buying and trying the profile test strip that also measures hdl and triglycerides. I am also very interested in trying the glucose meter, as this device is also able to test. All in all, I am very happy with this purchase and highly recommend.

Easy to use, accurate
I've read the negative reviews, and many of them could have been avoided if people just read the description (it only tests total cholesterol - it says that in the description). It is easy to use, once you understand you hold the capillary stick up and down to suck up the blood from your finger, and then hold it at an angle to transfer the blood to the strip. I wasted one strip, not knowing that. Wasted another strip because it was too cold in my house, and I didn't know what the Lo error message was for. I bought extra test strips, and was disappointed to see they expire in a few months (I had ordered the extras with the intent of using one a month to test myself for well over a year). But I think it's a good tester -- I think it's relatively accurate. Not a replacement for actual lab tests, but a good way to keep track in between, which was my intent. I really like the lancet holder -- best one I've ever used, and I have no problem getting an adequate supply of blood to test. Not sure why others think it's cheap. I think it's pretty well made. I didn't buy the L7 because you need three separate tests, and your total cholesterol makes up all of those, and I'm getting total cholesterol with the L5. I figure regular lab tests once a year is good enough for the breakdown, and if my total cholesterol is going down, so, too, probably is my LDL, so it's all good.

Accurate and easy to use
A great device for cholesterol and triglyceride readings in between regular Dr visits. I've been wanting to see my number more regularly based upon my diet and exercise. I have genetic components so have to work harder on getting my numbers in control. This device comes only with the cholesterol strips. I just bought the triglyceride strips, as well-separately. Very easy to use-you have to read more than just the quick-set up guide for first use to get the device, strips and lancer to work correctly. So far it is great!

Supplies needed but does not tell you that you will need to begin testing.
After you receive the meter, in the user manual it lists that "Items required for testing, but not provided in the kit', Curo L5 Brand Test Strips, Curo L5 Brand Control Solutions, Capillary Rods and Control Solution Range Cards. I opened the box only to find that I was not able to start testing right away. So disappointed.

Close but no cigar
A very nifty device, nicely packaged and with pretty good instructions. It took me about five test strips to get my first reading. That was my learning curve on taking the correct steps to get a reading. Once past those errors, in the weeks since, I've been able to stick myself and get a reading most every time. The readings though seem remarkably diverse. In the week preceding and the week following a blood test at a lab, I obtained total cholesterol readings of 183, 233, 286 and 108 using the Curo L5. The lab reported a total cholesterol of 197. I'll keep trying. It may be that one wants to average a series of apparently inconsistent readings. Perhaps one needs to stick the finger and then milk it a couple times to get a better drop of blood.

Great for tracking progress at home
I bought this meter so I wouldn’t have to wait to my yearly blood work to see if my high cholesterol was improving. I had also instituted some dietary changes and wanted feedback on what was working or not. It does need a fairly large drop of blood and the pipette that comes with the strips wasn’t the greatest. As far a accuracy it was fairly dead on with a test done at a work health fair and my doctor’s office - within 10%. I like with a type 1 and a type 2 diabetic so I know that glucose meters can vary about 20%. Seems reasonable that cholesterol devices would have a similar margin of error. The data from this device, along with a plant based diet helped me reduce my cholesterol 60 points compared to my lab work last year.
