Got birds where you don't want them? These will solve that.
Oh, there are times that you get something and you get the evil grin on your face...this is one of those times. We have had Robins and Doves nesting under our deck for several years and unless I take down the nests daily (and at least twice a day for the Robins) the next thing I know we have baby birds on the way. Interestingly we have plenty of trees 30' away and the deck is their preferred place. The problem is the deck is one story up and they roost in the main beam and then make a mess of our patio below. And then there is the problem that the baby birds cannot fly well and for whatever reason they decide it is a good time to try when we have our dogs out in the yard for that 15-minute window... never a good ending for the birds. Need to do something to get them out from under there. Finally decided to look for the bird spikes to keep them from coming back as the last two I had to be vigilant every day to get rid of the nests they where building.... they then went out in the yard and built them in the trees....imagine that happening! We have 2x8's that are attached to a 6x6 and are about 1.5" apart so I wanted something to span the gap, I ordered the extra wide. It worked out perfect as I didn't even have to attach them to the beams--- they sit between the two 2x8's and stick up about 75% of their height. The end result is that it humanely keeps the birds from making nests and unless you stare at the under side of the deck.... you do not notice the spikes. Installation was awesome as I used a simple pair of side cutters to cut them to length and after installing 50' worth in under 30-minutes, I had only two or three 1-spike wide pieces left over as trash, so definitely an efficient length to work with. Recommend? Absolutely. Am I positive it will keep them away? After poking myself once when I knocked one off the ladder and started to grab it--- I can see why it will keep them away!

Great for squirrels and cats!
Awesome product, sturdy, strangely beautiful, and quite effective on mammals. Bought the first set to interrupt a fencetop raccoon highway running through our yard (and our neighbors' yards etc). Wasn't sure if it would work but I was desperate - the critters repeatedly managed to figure out how to outsmart our coop, and ate all of our pet chickens one by one. I set two strips of spikes on the fencetop, side by side with overlapping spikes so there was no way little feet could avoid them, in a location away from bushes/other places that a critter could use to climb around them. The spikes are long enough that a raccoon would get poked on its belly trying to walk over them, but the assemblage is not long enough to keep birds out (we like the birds and have no problem with them). I haven't seen the raccoons yet so I don't know if they are working for those guys, but I am thrilled to report this one set of four strips have been a great deterrent for 1) a neighborhood cat bent on ripping holes in mine, and 2) the zillion squirrels that ferry parasites directly to our pet bunnies. Regarding #2, I saw a squirrel skirt the spikes by hanging from the side of the fence and scooting around, so I installed another set of overlapping spikes along the sides of the fence. That seems to have done the trick...I haven't seen a single squirrel in the yard since then! I bought two more sets to install on the other parts of the fence, and am about to attempt a third set intended to deter black rats from eating the fruit from trees overhanging the fence. I'm going to try overlapping 4 strips to make a maze that hopefully won't be worth it to the rats. I'll report back in a couple of months.

Arrived mostly intact, despite the miserable condition of the box.
In view of some criticisms of the spikes falling out of the plastic base, I checked these over carefully. The outer rows are in pairs, squeezed like springs for installation and cannot fall out. The inner, vertical spikes are single wires, installed in every second position, along with the wider-spaced outer spikes. Those seem to be held only by friction and, of my 24 2-foot sections, two are missing one spike each. If those fell out in transit, they would likely have slipped out of the battered box; otherwise I’d expect to be able to super-glue them in. Overall, I’m satisfied. But the box (Bird-X’s own) should be reinforced – the spike assemblies themselves offer little resistance to crushing force. Amazon’s illustration is inaccurate: these spikes are just as illustrated, except much wider. The photo must be of the standard spikes. Now to see if they keep the squirrels off my deck and away from the bird feeders. Edit: they didn't. If the squirrel can't squeeze between spikes, it'l scramble right over the top. The spikes aren't sharp enough to draw blood, which is likely all that would deter a squirrel.

Help keep nuisance animals away.
I do a lot of nuisance animal control and have used these for several years now. I have installed them on gutters to keep the raccoons and squirrels from climbing up them and getting on the roof and then eventually into the attic.

Did the job, no birds after installing. Plastic ...
Did the job, no birds after installing. Plastic bottom is a little flimsy but no problems with shifting wire spikes as some people have had.

Bird b gone spikes work
These things really work. Birds can be very persistent and tricky when they have their little minds set on building a nest on your front porch but these spikes stop them even landing.

No More Roosting Birds
I am creating a meditation area in my covered back patio and small courtyard. The area faces west and gets a lot of sun. So I am having sun shades installed in the patio. I am an animal lover and do everything possible to not harm them. However, I had a pair of doves that were determined to roost in my patio rafters. No matter what I placed in the rafters, the doves continued to build nests. I ordered Bird-X spikes and placed them across the front rafter (above where the sunshade will be installed) and no more doves! Due to the high gusts of wind, I secured them with 'liquid nails' and they are extremely secure. The Bird-X frame is plastic and easy to cut to get an exact fit between the beams. They do not obstruct the view - you barely notice them. And they don't harm the doves. They doves can't land where Bird-X spikes are located. The package said smaller birds may be able to roost even with the spikes. In my case they have worked for me. Great product and far less expensive than similar brands in local hardware stores.
