The ceramic nozzle where the filament comes out from is hot but not to the point that an accidental touch burns a finger. The pen has 3 heat setting and I tend to use the lowest temperature as it seems that the lower the temperature the sooner the filament gets cold as soon as it comes out of the pen and the less messy stringy filament will be created. The pen also has 3 different speed settings and I tend to use the slowest one for things that require more precision and require a slower pace. That said the faster speed setting is better used when you are drawing straight lines and want to move faster with a thicker doodle. The only negative to this pen is that the even when the forward button is pressed again to stop the filament from coming out it takes about 5 sec for it to completely stop so depending on the project you need to learn to press the forward (to sop) a couple of seconds sooner (depending on the speed) than when you want to stop the pen. Other than that, I'm pretty happy with the pen. The filament can be inserted and ejected easily and I have not encountered the filament to stuck in the device in any way. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Easy to get up and running, not so easy to make stuff *by M***Y on January 8, 2019* It’s ok, I tried to make a mold figure but it didn’t workout with this. No way to really make smooth, even used a painter knife once was better but still no. ### ⭐ Don't waste your money! *by Q***G on March 11, 2018* Very cheaply made. Does not make smooth lines but rather bumpy ones due to the cheap motor. It is also VERY particular in the angle to place the filament. Inserting it at just the wrong angle will result in it neither feeding nor retracting. Filament got stuck permanently 3 days after return window closed, ofcourse.
