VERY STIFF heavy duty cotton canvas. No laundering instructions so I washed them with COLD water on GENTLE cycle (with fabric softener) to remove any chemicals and hopefully soften up a bit. Before washing, bags were 9.45" x 12.59". After washing, they shrunk to 9" x 10", which is too small for my needs. And bags remained VERY STIFF after washing. Stiffness also prevents drawstring from closing tightly, so any smaller items will fall out if bag tilted or turned upside down.
