It puts out lots of light, and I really appreciate that the light is directional and can be aimed. By comparison, a high-output CFL or even LED corn light sends a fair amount of light up. Many utility spaces have no ceiling to reflect that light back down, or the ceiling isn't white (unpainted drywall, etc.); so the light going up is wasted or attenuated. This light does not send light up at all.The light is bright white and very intense to the eye.
