I couldn't believe that it could give you grill marks on food and really perform like the information said. Boy was I wrong! The seller was using a Weber gas grill with this mat directly over the gas flames. No flames were touching the underside of the mat. He had onions, zucchini and chicken grilling away. The vegetables had brown grill marks and the chicken had crispy skin! Of course he was selling these for 3 times the price of Amazon so I hurried home to purchase it on Amazon.I have a charcoal grill and fired it up the minute my mats arrived. The directions state to use this mat over indirect heat and not over 500 degrees. However, using my trusty infrared thermometer,Β  BAFX Products (TM) - Non Contact - Infrared (IR) Thermometer (-58F - +1,022F) - W/ Pointer Sight - BATTERY INCLUDED! Β I tested the grill mat and it was at 400 deg. with the mat directly over the coals. No flames were shooting up and there would be no grease dripping to cause flare ups, so I proceeded to put my stuffed, bacon wrapped chicken breasts on the mat. They were perfectly grilled, including the bacon, in less than 30 minutes. Another great feature of this mat is that you can baste with sauce and not worry about it getting burnt onto the grates or dripping onto your charcoal or gas burners. Not one to waste good coals, I put a cedar plank on the mat with some salmon filets. Again perfect, in 15 minutes. I was on a roll! Sliced vegetables were next and again perfect. (I pre-steamed the carrots and potato slices to speed things up). Corn on the cob was soaked in the husks for 1 hour then put directly on the mat for 45 minutes and it was delicious! Lastly, I melted some semi sweet chocolate chips directly on the mat and dipped roasted (over the coals) marshmallows in it. No I didn't eat all that food that night, into the freezer it went.Clean up? What clean up? I put the mat into a sink with a bit of dish soap and it was clean. The grill looked unused. Another feature? Take this mat to the campground or park when using a grill others have used and left in, well, questionable condition. No fears of getting someone's leftover food, dirt, grime, or bird drippings on your food. Based on my experiences, there is only one case where I think the mat would not be totally ideal. And that is with steak. To get that really hot sear on the outside, it would be best to sear steaks directly on the grates before or after cooking on the mat. They are packaged as pictured. Why have to clean your grill grate each time you use the barbecue grill, or why let the grill keep caking after each usage if you don't clean the grill each time. They measure approximately 15 3/4" x 13".Aluminum foil has it's uses when grilling, but using it as a non-stick mat on a grill often ends up a fail or partial fail. Use non-stick grill mats. It makes life easier, and you can wash them in the sink or even better in the dishwasher.These are a great buy. You can cut them to size if your grill has an odd shape or size or if you want to cut them for sectional usage on your grill. They are fairy thick and fully flexible, and you can easily curve them into a "U" shape for whatever you need to do that to pour off your items or whatever is on the mat.You have 2 in the package, so you can use one and have one in reserve while that one is being washed. Or, you can use one for meat and switch out and use the other for vegetables if you want to keep food oils and fat away from other foods on the grill.I recommend these grill mats. They are large, and they work very well. While I've only utilized the mat a few times, it seems to be a good solution to these two items.Quality - I admit, I was skeptical about this product. I could not believe that it wouldn't melt, especially after feeling the material. I am happy to report that, after several uses, the mat looks great. Even cooking at or near 400 degrees has not harmed the mats. It has not warped, discolored, or otherwise deteriorated.Cleaning - I have been happy with the mat's non-stick surface. I have not had any issues with food sticking to the mat during cooking. After using it, I've found it easy to wipe clean and store.Overall - The mats are great for my applications. I will report any problems, but we are going strong after two weeks of use. I would say that, for the price, I feel like it was a good buy and I've been happy with the performance.
