I hook it up to a 2000W inverter and connect the pump and a work lamp to that. I run one pump cycle every two weeks to test it; this week I ran the pump for 12 cycles. The charger I have, in maintenance-free mode, takes 6 hours and 15 minutes to fully charge the battery in either case, so I'm assuming it's mostly charged relatively quickly and then trickles to a full point over the rest of the time, like filling a bucket with full force from the faucet and then turning it down to a dribble when it's a quarter-inch from the top. One day I will run a test with water continuously filling the sump pit to see how many cycles the battery will last before draining to the point it won't run the pump.
