Upon receiving this, I realized more than likely it would not be sufficient.First of all, it comes in a tightly packed cone shape. This more or less means, that the cone doesn't want to expand very much. Which leads to the second problem, how flimsy it is. Because the material is flimsy and the way it's been packed, it ends up being lopsided since the flimsiness allows some portions to "unroll" while other portions remain stubborn and don't want to unroll. The cone will also pretty much collapse on any contact with objects, which means a dog can work around this.The last bit is sizing. If you have a dog with a longer muzzle, this will be too short. As it was, the neck size was too large.If you have a small dog that isn't very strong, then this perhaps would work.I brought this in to the vet the day of the procedure and they pretty much confirmed what I had expected. The upside of this all was they didn't charge me for their cone. ### ⭐ Would have been perfect, except.... *by G***N on Reviewed in the United States on November 12, 2019* I purchased the soft clear recovery e collar on November 4, 2019 for my Boston Terrier who just had eye surgery. I was very excited to receive the collar because I had taken careful measurements of my dog and my vet sold me a generic e collar that had the exact measurements as this one, but did not feature the softened edges that this one has. Unfortunately, when I received this collar, it had been folded in half and then rolled up very tightly and wrapped in an ice cream cone shape. After struggling with the packaging for 15 minutes to unwrap it, I unrolled the color to find that it was permanently creased in a few different locations, rendering the collar unusable. I am unsure if this product was packaged damaged, or if the damage was a direct result of the packaging process, but unfortunately, I could not use it for my dog. Lesson learned! You may pay more for it at your vet or pet store, but at least you will get one that has no damage that you can use! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A genuinely decent, durable e-collar, this one can take the rough stuff and stay put! *by L***. on Reviewed in the United States on February 14, 2020* A VERY active puppy is going into his 2nd week of surgery healing and this e-collar is holding up beautifully.The vet was totally surprised when I told her I didn’t need the (expensive but cheaply made) e-collar she was going to send us home with, I’d done that with my lab earlier (for chewing on a sever skin rash) and her vet collar didn’t even make it through the first 24 hours before breaking) I got this a version few weeks before pup was scheduled to be neutered and unrolled it, laid a couple books on it to flatten it (it comes tightly rolled and hard to put on pup without doing this step for a few days first) when we came back from the vet, I put it on, the AWESOME top-to-bottom Velcro closure allows for a real ‘custom’ fit and he’s been wearing it ever since...No amount of clawing, scratching, bashing, scraping or slamming it into things has changed the fit (unlike the earlier versions my lab figured out almost instantly, how to break the clips with a good bash against a wall or by simply pressing it hard on the floor/grass/dirt and jerking his head up while pushing forward... it breaks the clips and/or breaks the plastic where the clips fit in).He can’t do that now (the Velcro doesn’t ‘give’ tear, snap or break off at the plastic) with this little beauty!!This sturdy cone is worth every penny! I love the little dog bone shaped cut-outs in it too, it helps them hear what’s going on better than a solid, unvented version.
