The way to tell if it's pure is if it has a slightly nutty smell, as it comes from a nut. A lot of companies mix argan oil with other oils and I haven't had good luck with those so I stick to ones that are 100% argan. And I would say that this one is. In fact, it almost smells too nutty. I use argan oil for my face, body, hair, and cuticles -- it's great because it absorbs really well and doesn't leave an oily film on your skin. Of course, everyone is different. I'm over 40, have very dry skin, and live in a dry climate so I like things that really moisturize my skin. And my skin loves argan oil. I don't break out or have any reactions to it, which is another reason I believe this one is pure. I have reactions to some other oils and this one hasn't given me any issues so far.My only reason for giving it four stars is that the smell is stronger than any other argan oil I've used. So much so that I'll probably keep this one for using on my hair and body because when I put it on my face, I can smell it for a while afterward. And nuts aren't something I want to smell when going to bed. I'm not sure if they process it differently and that's why it smells so strong, but I wanted to mention it because some people are sensitive to scents. This is a natural scent, but a scent all the same.If you don't mind the scent, this is a great oil for dry skin and will also work on dry hair. But use it very sparingly on your hair or your it will look oily -- I usually put a couple of drops in my hand, rub them together, and then lightly scrunch the oil into the ends of my hair where it's the most dry. If my hair is kind of frizzy looking that day, I'll then tap what's left over on the rest of my hair.
