Great choice for an outdoor herb garden!

Gronomics RPB 18 - 48 18-Inch by 48-Inch by 19-Inch Rustic Planter Box, Unfinished: Nice roomy planter box and looks great. I bought this a couple months ago and after much debate, decided to make it my herb garden. In mid-October, I planted parsley, two varieties of oregano and two varieties of chives and my planter looks very much like the one in the picture. The plants, which used to be in pots, are thriving even though it was a lousy time of year to transplant.I did seal the wood pieces after assembly, nailed some plastic glides to the bottom of the four corner posts, added some flat plywood boards to the bottom for strengthening, and some additional lining (mulch cloth) before adding the soil and plants. You will really need the extra lining and support if you fill it with soil as opposed to placing potted plants in it since, as other reviewers have pointed out, there are some gaps between the bottom slats and the side slats as well (which are kinda thin but have been holding up perfectly so far).It was easy to assemble and everyone who has seen it remarks on how good it looks. The plants love it...

loved the Gronomics beds so much, purchased more

*by M***K on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on June 28, 2012*

I received two of these yesterday and had them assembled in under 5 minutes each; the third one took a bit of doing since I remodeled it but it went very well. I purchased earlier this season, a 24"x 48" x 30" model. My tomatoes are doing so well I decided to order more of these beds.I have this awkward 16 ft down-slope down the side of my house where the concrete basement shows 30 inches tall at the bottom and 12 inches at the top. It is also front and center to where everyone sits on the deck. Over the years I have tried multiple foundation plannings to no good effect. I thought to build raised beds with the height of the bed varying on the bottom rather than on the top. I priced it out and it was quite the commitment even if I did all the work myself. And,I was not sure how to manage the drainage around the foundation. Serendipity overcame plodding. I ordered two 19" high and one 30" Gronomics beds. To the remodeling part, unfortunately, the 30" did not come 18 inches wide in the rustic wood. Power tools to the rescue. I merely chopped off the extra 6 inches on the 4 side pieces and the bottom pieces. Took all of 30 minutes. Now, of course, there has to be a hard part...the pieces fit together with one long dovetail so it is necessary to recreate that on the cut end of each of the 4 boards. I used a chisel and a hammer since I did not have any fancy power tool to do it with. The tiered effect has worked great. I buried a couple of the legs (not very deep, don't want a lot of rot). I put two legs up on flat rocks that were firmly build into the side of the hill and one set of feet on the edge of my deck. I was able to get them all to line up and be level. An alternative method would be to shorten the legs on the uphill side of the box. I decided not to cut off the legs in case I ever want to use the beds elsewhere. Last night I planted carrots, radishes and lettuce. Since the beds are beside my house, and I can use garden cloth with them, I expect to be growing cold weather crops well into the fall and maybe part of the winter (I live in zone 4).P.S. If you don't want to spend a couple of hours fussing with re-shaping your 24 to 18, the bed 18" by 30" high is available in unfinished wood but it is a lot more expensive.

pretty convenient cedar planter for balcony

*by P***R on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on April 1, 2014*

This is a good looking although made of raw pieces of cedar wood. The frontal planks deserved a more finished look but overall it is ok. Once finished, it fits a narrow balcony and the low height is convenient. We tucked the liner somehow under the 4 poles' top when we screwed them down, so it was easier to stay in place when we poured soil inside. I don't know yet about its ability to retain water under heavy rain, so that neighbors underneath would not be inundated. For now, it is perfect, was easy to assemble, and looks good.
