Wonderful cedar glider!! - Stain/Seal before you put together and have extra hands on deck.

*by D***D on Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2017*

I just love this!! It took hours to put together - my mother and I - the instructions are clearer than most, however, there are a couple of places that could have been better. It's a lot easier if you have some blocks to put it up on. Also, the wood is super soft. In wrestling with the the parts from the arms to the base (to make it glide), the bolt was not matching the hole to the base and was going through the wood. Fortunately, I saw this and was able to move it before much damage occurred, and was on the lookout for the other three. Two people and some blocks are needed to put this together - I think if we had a third person it would have been together in about an hour or less because it really needs 2 people holding it up while the 3rd person is putting in the bolts.Nevertheless, once it was together, it was lovely. It looks gorgeous, glides nicely, and is super comfortable. After being out in the weather a few months, I think it needs another coat of sealant or something. I thought that the stained finish would be sufficient, but I think now that it needs to be sealed. It smelled wonderful when the package was open. So glad I purchased it. My mom wants one just like it for her house.*** UPDATE - November 2017. AS stated in my last paragraph above, that after a few months it needs another coat of sealant - YES it does! As of this month, it is grey and cracking. If time and the weather will cooperate, I will paint it with my fence stain just to try to save and protect it. It still glides nicely. I'm not happy with the "stained finish (and seal)" that it came with. I don't think they used a good quality stain and sealer, especially as I noticed it would need another coat just a short few months after purchase and on a shaded patio. I've taken off a star for difficulty in putting together and the extra needed stain/sealant. I should have stained/sealed it after it arrived and before I put it together; I don't think it would be in the shape it's in now, if I had done so. Still love the glider, size, design, and movement!

Nice product if you're a handyman with a handyman friend

*by E***E on Reviewed in the United States on May 9, 2017*

We're very happy with the outcome of the assembly of our glider. It looks great and glides smoothly. The wood is good quality cedar and the finish is good, but will likely need replenishing. My handyman friend and I were able to assemble it in a bit less than 2 hours. My wife (and I) was very pleased that I didn't ask her to help. It's awkward to put together without a workbench, which we had and used; it would also be very difficult to put together by oneself. We also used a ratcheting nut driver, and machine screws rather than the carriage bolts in several places, because the holes did not match up between the arms and the seat base, as several others had noted. This mismatching of holes was remedied by drilling out the hole in the seat base to match the one in the arm, once the arm was in place held by two of the screws. The machine screws have a hex head at their end, so that they can be cinched up independent of having to have the bolt throat set into the wood. The problem, noted before, is that cedar is a very soft wood and the carriage bolt throat can easily turn in the hole, thereby making it impossible to tighten up. I would not recommend using the machine screws on the gliding mechanism if you cannot find 2 1/4 inch ones, which I was unable to find ( this is because there is not much clearance in that area between the base and the seat).

    Well-built.

*by C***A on Reviewed in the United States on April 23, 2013*

I've had this several months and it's still comfy and sturdy. I did use a marine waterseal on it when I first put it outside and it still has the beautiful cedar color. It fits me well (I'm 5'4", 110 lbs) but I had to add a seat cushion for my husband's comfort. In the beginning it was whisper quiet. The mechanics still move easily and quietly but now the wood of the glider creaks/groans a bit, mostly when first sitting down or repositioning. I've tightened all the screws and that has helped but basically I think my husband and son (450 lbs total) overloaded it one weekend in my absence. Of course, it's still VERY quiet when I'm the only one on it!;)It is very pretty, with one exception. The ends of the arms (where your hands rest) are cut straight across, with no rounding or sanding. This leaves a rough edge that annoys my fingertips and seems to be contradictory with the smooth edges everywhere else on the glider. I did try to sand those edges a bit but they really need to be shaped and I don't own any type of saw or I'd attempt it myself. The assembly instructions were easy to follow; I assembled it myself in about two hours. Basically, I think it's a great purchase for the price.
