## Overview

The Great Dalmuti is an 80-card commercial deck game featuring cards ranked from 12 to 1, including two jokers. Players aim to be the first to discard all their cards, gaining status and changing seating positions with each round for a dynamic and engaging experience.

## Description

Product Description A light card game where players gain status by going out first. The 80-card commercial deck contains cards ranked from 12 to 1, along with two Jesters. Each card bears a number, which is not only its rank, but also tells you how many of that card exist in the deck. In other words, there are twelve 12s, eleven 11s, four 4s and a single card ranked 1. The lower the number, the better the rank. The deck is dealt out to all players and the object is to get rid of your cards as fast as possible. The hand begins with one person playing one or more card to the center of the table. The cards played must all be of the same rank (although Jesters are wild, and may be played with any other cards). Each player in turn must now either play the same number of cards of a better rank, or pass. Play continues around the table until everyone has passed; at that point, the cards are cleared and whoever played the last set of cards leads the next round. After everyone has gone out, the players are ranked. For example, the person who first got rid of all his cards becomes The Great Dalmuti. Players change seat position to represent the new hierarchy and begin another round. The Great Dalmuti is generally played for many rounds. From the Manufacturer Life isn’t fair. And neither is The Great Dalmuti. In one round you’re at the top of the heap, and in the next you could be peasant scum. In this fast-paced game of medieval one-upmanship, players take their places in the pecking order, from Greater Peon to Greater Dalmuti. But the roles change in every round, so get rid of the cards in your hand fast. The quicker you rid yourself of your cards, the higher you’ll go. But don’t get comfortable in the cushy Greater Dalmuti chair because even the lowliest peon can unseat you and boot you out the door. Sounds unfair, sure it is. But the sweet taste of victory could make it all worthwhile. This short, fast-paced, fun card game is easy to learn and play. It takes about 15 minutes to play the game, and is for 5-10 players.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does it have plastic covers for each card?**
A: The cards are not individually wrapped.

**Q: How do you score? Win?**
A: You win by getting rid of all your cards first. You 'score' by putting down the last round of cards and keeping control of the next hand.

**Q: how many players?**
A: A single deck works best with 6-8 players. You can play huge games with multiple decks. I've played with up to around 20 people with 3 decks, which was a lot of fun if there is conversation going on (otherwise it gets boring waiting for your turn). We play with merchant trading (starting with the highest merchant, they offer 1 card to trade with the lower merchants) and that is a lot of fun but can take a little while in large groups.A good house rule for large groups is if someone is stuck as the greater peon for 2-3 hands in a row, allow the great dalmuti to reassign their position.I haven't been able to find the actual optional rule from an early edition for large groups, but this is what we do:4 players - 1 deck - remove 11s and 12s5 player - 1 deck - remove 12s6-8 players - 1 full deck9-10 players - 2 decks, remove 11s and 12s11-12 players - 2 decks, remove 12s13-16 players - 2 full decks17-24 players - 3 full decksWith multiple decks you also get more revolutions and greater revolutions, but that works out pretty well in my opinion.

**Q: Is it possible to play with two players?**
A: It is normally played with four or more players: two Dalmuttis and two peons, but hey, if you are that bored go for it. Maybe you could play a honeymoon bridge set-up version of the game.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Really fun game
*by S***R on July 3, 2025*

This card game is so fun. We play it at work on Tuesdays during lunch for team building. I will say try to have more than 4 people because you will end up having a ton of cards to work with. Very easy to learn.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fun, Fast-Paced, and Perfect for Family Game Night!
*by M***E on May 28, 2025*

The Great Dalmatian Game was a hit in our house! It’s easy to learn, keeps everyone engaged, and leads to lots of laughs (and a little friendly competition). The artwork is super cute—kids loved the spotted Dalmatians—and the gameplay is quick enough to hold their attention but strategic enough to keep adults interested too. Great for all ages, and perfect for family game night or even a classroom setting. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for something new, fun, and different!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Addicting card game that gets you moving your seat
*by J***C on June 25, 2025*

Best game ever! Hard to explain at first but after the first round everyone is addicted and wants to play over and over again
