I wanted something that was both functional and blended in with the look of the existing antique hardware. My tips for install are: - Painter tape the area for drilling to the ensure no wood splitting, cracking. - Pilot hole is 3/32 inch diameter - Remove tape. - I would offset the two pieces. You are moving an β€œarm” in an arc but the bar that it fits into is perpendicular. So you need to account for the space of the angle. So I put the piece with arm slightly higher than the static piece so that there is more wiggle room when you move the arm. I’m not sure if this would have fixed the issue with the other customer having to saw off half of the bar, but that addressed it for me. - if possible, put the piece with the arm on the door and the static piece on the door frame. Helps with not having a lot of protrusion otherwise coming off a door frame if you did it the opposite way. Hope that makes sense. Bottom line is play with the spacing between the two pieces and be precise on the alignment.
