Ugh please update to a religion free version. I would return it but I edited it myself. Very exclusive. I’m sad that the only literature out there on these topics are seem to be very Christian based. When I look at it, I see it’s bc they were written in the 80’s. If anyone knows about more recent, religion free, psychology books on codependency please suggest.I don’t understand how a meditation book on codependency can freely suggest a replacement attachment figure? Isn’t the whole goal of recovering from codependency to attach to yourself? So why are you promoting attachment to a God? Seems counterproductive and I’m sad I spent money on this book. The Calm app is way better.

Writings are all about putting your faith in God that he will do a lot of the work and not taking full responsibility for your own healing. If you are not a devout Christian, then this book will not help you much. Almost every entry involves leaving some of the actions that need to be taken to God's will. May not be for everyone.

It has been extremely helpful as a daily reminder around learning to and staying out of the business of others, allowing others to make choices and handle the consequences. Yes, it is written with the 12 Step Program in mind, but that doesn't get in the way of the truth of each page. A reader doesn't need to be involved in 12 Step to get the wonderful benefits.
