Leave stubborn pans filled with hot water maybe a little soap overnight and it will literally wipe off the next day or in a few hours. As for the absorbancy, they're unbelievably so! I have yet to be able to rinse it to the point where no soap is in it at all, it lasts throughout my whole dish washing session, fantastic! So I'm saving on my ecover washing up liquid too! I use them for wiping down the kitchen rather than washing up (although the scourer side is good for enamel pans that you dont want to scratch with a metal scourer) and they absorb splashes and clear up crumbs and old bits of food well. They come out well after a wash in the machine too. Only downside is that the pale colours get grubby pretty quickly and don't ever look as clean and vibrant again.
