Review: VERY GOOD general-purpose stylus - that is, if you're not a DJ... - I just took delivery of my stylus on April 20, 2012. And although it's not the same color as my previous stylus had been, it still fits and has even better audio quality than the older one did! It also looks better than my older stylus, tracks better, and plays louder as well! And because of just how affordable my ATN-3600L stylus is, I chose to invest in two more of these to keep on hand for backup and use in the future. And besides, I enjoy spinning my vinyl LP and 45-RPM records as much as I enjoy listening to and/or watching all the digital A/V media stored at my home desktop terminal. And the reason why I say my new stylus tracks better than the last one is not so much because it's new, but it also has a smaller shank with a finer stylus tip - which means improved tracking of the music. There's almost twice as much bass with the ATN-3600L than there EVER was with my previous ATN-5625AL. You see, my original cartridge is the CN-5625AL, but it's completely identical to the AT-3600L, aside from color, and therefore my new stylus is interchangeable. I also bought a second AT-3600L as a backup recently, from LPGear.com, to replace a sorry cartridge/stylus combo mentioned below - the piece-of-junk Stanton 400.V3! I bought a 400.V3 because of its 10mV output rating, which is more than twice the output level of the AT-3600L (4.2mV) - not knowing the 400.V3 would turn out to be a complete waste of money! However, before I go any further, my 400V.3 sounds a little better at present, now that I have installed new lead wires for it - but the treble range is still slightly distorted in the right-hand channel. And so, basically I wasted $40 to buy a cartridge that's almost twice as expensive as the AT-3600L, and more than twice as loud, but still has less-than-stellar sound quality. Stanton really needs to improve their quality control department! I praise Audio-Technica for their commitment to making top-notch audio products, especially their turntable gear and accessories. I admit it's too bad other phono cartridge and stylus manufacturers can't be as good - primarily Stanton, and their 400.V3 DJ model. I bought another one of those recently as well, and its sound quality SUCKS when compared to my Audio-Technica AT-3600L cartridge and her stylus counterpart! Besides, the AT-3600L has been a proven and very reliable design. And back in the day, during the 1980s, it was used on more turntables that were sold at those high-end retailers - such as JC Penney, Foley's, Sears, Montgomery Ward, and Dillard's. I suppose if I were a professional DJ, I would have to invest in a pair of the Shure M44-7 cartridge. It is not only a bit expensive, but also it's big and bulky - despite its high-performance and popularity in the DJ world. But the thing is, I'm not a professional DJ - and so I don't need a cartridge like that. For now, I'm sticking with my trusty cartridge - now called the Audio-Technica AT-3600L. News Update - September 6, 2012: I just placed another order for two more of these fine styli, one for me and the other for a lady friend of mine who could use one on a turntable I recently gave to her. That turntable still has my old Stanton 400.V3 mounted on its headshell, and it sounds just as bad on her machine as it did on my unit. And so, I wanted my friend to have her own AT-3600L/ATN-3600L cartridge/stylus combo to play her vinyl. Volume differences aside, the A-T combo blows that Stanton garbage right out of the water!!
Review: Hmmm...mine arrived and was yellow...not like the picture...yet... - The stylus I received was yellow, did not have any markings on it, and said it was made in Switzerland. Shape-wise, it looks just like the stock stylus on my AT-LP60 Audio Technica turntable; but my default stylus is grayish-white and has the AT logo like the picture on desertcart. One difference I see is that my turntable stock stylus is carbon fiber on the cantilever, and the one I received that was yellow is made out of a metal. I will have to spend some time listening to each one for a while to decide if this new yellow one is better/worse/same......... UPDATE 1/19/2014: Had time to test this stylus out. Immediate difference in sound. Took me seconds to realize this when a record played. Biggest difference between this stylus verses the stock one that came with the turntable is in the mids/vocals. This stylus plays so clear! Very noticeable difference in sound. The stylus that came with my AT-LP60 turntable sounded muddy and the vocals weren't as clear. Second thing I noticed was the tight solid bass. Seemed almost non-existent compared to this new cartridge. Once again, I need to state that the stylus I received was YELLOW, had no markings at all on the cartridge, was made in Switzerland (per the packaging it came in), and was NOT a carbon fiber cantilever. The stock cartridge that came with the turntable has a carbon fiber cantilever (and looks like the picture on desertcart). I confirmed this by looking at the stylus under a high-power microscope that I just happened to own. You would think the carbon fiber might be an improvement, but that wasn't the case for me. I felt this was a worth-while upgrade for my turntable. UPDATE II - August 28, 2015 It's been a while since I've posted an update. I'm still using the yellow stylus with my AT-LP60 and it continues to perform great. I checked some of the posts since my last update and now see folks receiving any number of versions of this stylus.....white, yellow, red, etc... It's looking like a "roll-of-the-dice" with what version you will get. Some have commented that the yellow version didn't work well for them, while others have stated that has worked out great. My yellow stylus is sounds much better than the original white one and I plan on continuing to use it. At this point, all I can say is take anyone's info, including mine, with a grain of salt. No telling what version you will get when ordering this 3600L replacement stylus.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will this work with a sony ps-lx300?**
A: Yes, this will fit with the Sony PS-LX300. I just purchased this and replaced the broken original on 3/6/2021. Be careful putting it on, though. I practiced a few times with the old one to make sure I knew how it worked.

**Q: Are you sure this fits a sony ps-lx250h? it doesnt look like it would.**
A: I have this stylus in 2019 and it doesn't seem to fit the Sony PS-LX250h. There are really minor differences between the cartridges and I can't get the new Audio Technica one to CLICK in and lock in. I emailed AT to see if they had any info.

**Q: What replacement stylus do i need for at-pl50 turntable?**
A: Here's what the manual says for replacement stylus/ go to this website: http://www.turntablelab.com/products/audio-technica-atn3600l-replacement-stylus-for-at-pl50-at-lp2dusb-at-lp60-at-lp60-usb

**Q: Will this work on a Music Hall usb-1 turntable? This model did come with the original table.**
A: Your turntable came with an Audio Technica AT3600L moving magnet headshell, so this stylus would work, providing nothing was changed. I would re-check your owners manual and the headshell itself to be certain as once in a while, manufacturers change things during production runs.
