Review: Good alternative to Lane OEM recliner tension spring - I had two tension springs break on my Lane recliner. Normally, I would go with the original model replacement spring, but they want about $25 apiece for them. These seem to be a good replacement. They have a foam insert, just like the OEM version. The only downside is they seem a little squeakier than the originals, but that is not work fifty dollars to me. As far as installing them, they need to be stretched out about 5-6 inches to hook on. After looking at a few instructional videos on Youtube, I settled with looping piano wire around them and pulling them with a vice grips. Using this method I did both of them in less than five minutes. You don't need to tie the wire, just grab both of the loose ends with the vice grips. It will take a good hard pull, but it can be done.
