I’ve only had automatic 1 button press machines before and was apprehensive at how complicated this might be?** A: It depends on whether you are prepared for a purely manual machine. The length of coffee grind takes a little time to get right and may need alteration for different coffee beans, the brew time may need altering to suit your taste. I had the previous model which was slightly more hands on so the pro model is easier to use but still needs a reasonable input from the user. This is a good machine but does require far more work than say a pod machine. There are cleaning and de-scaling programmes to carry out on a regular basis and because the first brew of the day is cooler and shorter than the rest I put a shot through the machine with no coffee in place. I wanted a machine which only produced coffee grounds as waste, the idea of throwing pods in the bin put me off that idea. With this machine you have to be prepared to unleash the Barista within yourself but will get great Coffee with experience. **Q: What do you use to turn on the wand to heat up your milk? This machine allows me to choose how fine or coarse to grind my beans, exactly how much coffee I use per brew and how long I run the infusion for. The consistency of every step is excellent! I also appreciate the low water alert feature - previous machines I have used only fail when the water runs out, but this one alerts you to refill the reservoir before it runs dry, ensuring you never airlock your pump. I also really like the Dosing Funnel attachment, this make the whole process mess-free! No more grounds scattered all over the countertop! Using the funnel when grinding keeps all the coffee in the brew filter while you tamp it down with the included tamper (which stores away very handily in it's magnetic storage bay). While I don't often use the steam wand to froth milk (I drink my coffee black) when I do, it works flawlessly and is easy to keep clean.
